Serving Hitchin

Tamil wedding photography in Hitchin

Hitchin is a characterful market town. Your celebration in Letchworth, Stevenage and Luton is in experienced hands, from the early muhurtham to the last dance. Whether your mandapam is in Hitchin itself or elsewhere across Hertfordshire, we plan the day around your venues.

A long lens and a light touch let us capture the sacred muhurtham from a respectful distance from the homam. Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present at your own muhurtham rather than posing for it. We capture the emotion honestly, from the laughter of the mehndi to the tenderness of the maangalya dharanam.

Much of our work takes us across Hertfordshire; Hitchin, a characterful market town, and the towns around it, including Letchworth, Stevenage and Luton, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Borehamwood and Potters Bar. Venues we have photographed at near Hitchin include The Barns at Redcoats, Hitchin Priory and Hitchin Town Hall.

Hitchin is a characterful market town with a medieval street plan, a twice weekly market and the well known lavender fields on its edge. Hitchin station is on the East Coast Main Line and Great Northern route to London King's Cross. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Hitchin Lavender at Cadwell Farm, and Windmill Hill above the town, and St Mary's Church, the largest parish church in Hertfordshire gives the day a strong sense of Hitchin.

Every tradition

From nichayathartham to grihapravesam

At the heart of a Tamil wedding is the maangalya dharanam, the tying of the thali that seals the marriage. We photograph the lighting of the homam and the blessings of the priests with respect. The oonjal, the gentle swing ceremony with its songs and warding off of the evil eye, is a moment we capture with warmth.

We document the nichayathartham and the engagement that begin the journey, when families ask us. The nadaswaram and thavil players fill the venue with music, and we photograph them at work. The grihapravesam welcomes the bride into her new home, and we are there for it.

The whole celebration

Your celebration in Hitchin, day by day

We tailor the hours to your events, whether it is one key day or a long weekend of celebrations. The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration.

Whether the wedding and reception are on the same day or spread across a weekend, we plan for it. The wedding day itself is a journey, from the early muhurtham and the kashi yatra to the saptapadi and the reception.

Why choose us

Why Tamil couples in Hitchin choose us

Families return to us because we treat the homam and the saptapadi with the reverence they deserve. Our experience across Iyer, Iyengar and Sri Lankan Tamil weddings runs deep.

We are London-based and travel across Hertfordshire and the wider region for the early muhurtham and the mandapam rituals. We photograph Tamil weddings throughout the Home Counties, and Hitchin is firmly within the area we cover.

Good to know

Tamil weddings in Hitchin, FAQs

Yes, and they are among our favourite parts of the celebration. The oonjal swing with its songs, and the playful nalangu games between the two families afterwards, are full of warmth and laughter, and we capture every bit of it.

Yes. We photograph Iyer, Iyengar and other South Indian Tamil traditions, and are familiar with the differences in their rituals and the order of events, so we are always in position for the moments that matter most.

Very. We photograph the thali tying, the saptapadi and the homam from a respectful distance with quiet, long-lens work, so the priests and the family are never disturbed and the sacred moments are captured just as they happen.

You will receive a small preview soon after the day, followed by your full edited gallery. We then design a hand-finished, fine-art album that holds the whole story of your celebration, from the first event through to the reception.

Most Tamil weddings run from the early-morning muhurtham through to the reception, so full-day coverage works best. For multi-day celebrations with a nichayathartham and mehndi, we tailor the hours to the events that matter most to you.
