Horsham is a West Sussex market town whose pedestrianised Carfax has hosted a market since medieval times and still holds a Saturday market with a bandstand for summer performances. Horsham railway station, on the line to London Victoria and the south coast, has served the town since 1848, with the current listed station building dating from 1938. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Horsham Park, a large public park with a boating lake close to the town centre, with The Capitol Theatre in the town centre close by for a striking backdrop.

We work quietly around the priests so the ceremony at the mandapam is never disturbed. The thali, tied to the sound of the nadaswaram, is the sacred heart of the ceremony, and we capture it close. The nadaswaram and thavil announce the sacred moments, and we are in position when they sound.

We photograph the warmth of the two families meeting at the sammandhi mariyathai. The grihapravesam welcomes the bride into her new home, and we are there for it. The nadaswaram and thavil players fill the venue with music, and we photograph them at work.
