Ilford station sits on the Great Eastern Main Line and is served by the Elizabeth line into central London. We often take couples to Valentines Park, the former grounds of Valentines Mansion for a few quiet portraits, and Valentines Mansion, a Grade II listed house built in 1696 is a lovely backdrop nearby.

We work quietly around the priests so the ceremony at the mandapam is never disturbed. We photograph the kanyadaanam, the giving away of the bride, at the mandapam with quiet care. The most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance with a quiet long lens.

The grihapravesam welcomes the bride into her new home, and we are there for it. The paalikai, when the seed pots are prepared, is a quiet, lovely ritual we cover with a gentle eye. The mehndi is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it.
