We are ready for the moment the thali, the mangalsutra, is tied around the bride's neck. The blessings of the elders and the sammandhi mariyathai close the ceremony, and we capture them with warmth. From the kanyadaanam to the saptapadi, the ceremony tells its own story, and we follow it closely.

The nadaswaram and thavil players fill the venue with music, and we photograph them at work. We photograph the bridal preparations, the draping of the Kanjeevaram silk and the jasmine in the hair, with a gentle eye. The paalikai, when the seed pots are prepared, is a quiet, lovely ritual we cover with a gentle eye.
