Sarratt is a pretty Chilterns village in the Three Rivers district, clustered along a long narrow historic green about four miles north of Rickmansworth. Sarratt is served by nearby Chorleywood and Rickmansworth stations on the Metropolitan line, and lies close to junction 18 of the M25. For portraits away from the celebration, The Chess Valley and Sarratt Bottom, a chalk stream landscape in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty works beautifully, and The Church of the Holy Cross, a flint and brick church founded around 1190 adds a real sense of place.

The maalai maatral, when the couple exchange garlands lifted high, is a moment of pure joy we love to photograph. We are mindful of every family's customs at the mandapam, Iyer, Iyengar or Sri Lankan Tamil. We photograph the couple's first steps together around the sacred homam fire.

The pre-wedding events are often where the most natural photographs come from, and we give them full attention. We photograph the maalai maatral, the exchange of garlands, with all of its energy and laughter. We document the nichayathartham and the engagement that begin the journey, when families ask us.
