Welwyn is a historic village in the Mimram valley, sitting on the line of a Roman road where a Romano-British settlement once stood. Welwyn North station serves the village on the East Coast Main Line, and the A1(M) motorway runs close by. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as The Mimram valley meadows beneath the 40 arch Digswell Viaduct, with The Welwyn Roman Baths, third century remains preserved beneath the A1(M) close by for a striking backdrop.

The oonjal, the gentle swing ceremony with its songs and warding off of the evil eye, is a moment we capture with warmth. We photograph the lighting of the homam and the blessings of the priests with respect. The ammi midithal and the paalikai each have their place, and we capture them as they happen.

The sumangali prarthanai gathers the married women of the family in blessing, and we photograph it with care. The oonjal swing, the singing and the rice balls offered to the couple are full of family warmth. We capture the family moments around the bride and groom, not just the rituals.
