Wedding Photography at Braxted Park, Essex
A true dry-hire estate in Essex where you arrange your own caterers and bar, with a Pavilion for 350 across 500 acres of woodland.
Bespoke packages · fast response · free consultation
Braxted Park is a dry-hire estate, and it says so plainly: booking on a dry-hire basis lets you arrange your own caterers and bar service. For an Asian wedding that settles the catering question before anything else. It is also the furthest venue we cover, in Essex rather than the Home Counties.
We are a wedding photography studio in Northwood, HA6, established 2001 and rated 4.8 out of 5 from 500+ Google reviews. We photograph weddings of every tradition, Asian ceremonies among them, and we cover this venue gladly. Below is what the venue publishes, and what it does not.

True dry hire, and what the estate does not publish
What Braxted Park publishes:
- Booking on a dry-hire basis allows you to arrange your own caterers and bar service.
- The Pavilion has space for up to 350 guests, overlooking the walled garden.
- Both civil and religious ceremonies are referenced as options.
- The venue names Asian, Caribbean, Nigerian, Turkish and Jewish weddings, and describes the neutral decor as suiting any style.
What it does not publish: an approved or restricted caterer list, parking, exclusive-use terms, listing status, and whether a mandap, an open-flame havan or a baraat are permitted. Dry hire usually implies latitude, but it is not the same as written permission for open flame. Ask.
A Pavilion for 350, a walled garden and 500 acres
Dry hire means the room arrives empty and your decorator builds it. What the Pavilion looks like on the day is decided by your supplier, not by the venue, so a site visit with the decorator is worth more here than at a venue with a fixed look.
The walled garden with its flowerbeds and water features is the natural portrait location, and it sits directly outside the Pavilion, so a portrait slot costs minutes rather than a coach move.
500 acres of woodland gives genuinely different backdrops within one estate. It also means light changes considerably between the house, the garden and the woods; plan the order around the sun rather than around convenience.
An estate of 500 acres with woodland, a walled garden and a Georgian house gives three genuinely different backdrops. The cost is walking time, and in Essex in winter the usable light is short, so the portrait order should follow the sun.
A Georgian house on a 500-acre wooded estate
Braxted Park is a Georgian house on a 500-acre wooded estate at Great Braxted in Essex. The spaces the venue names are the main house, the Pavilion, the Orangery, a secret walled garden, the woodlands and the Garden Cottage. It does not publish a listing grade and we have not asserted one.
The Pavilion is the room that carries a large wedding, taking up to 350, and it overlooks the walled garden with its flowerbeds and water features. The venue describes its decor as neutral, which is the honest description of a dry-hire space: what it looks like on the day is what your decorator makes it.
Accommodation is the Garden Cottage. A wider bedroom count is not published, so if family need to stay on site, ask before assuming.
Great Braxted, Essex, and the distance to plan for
Great Braxted, Witham, Essex CM8 3EN. Parking is not published; confirm supplier access when you book. This is the furthest venue we cover: our studio is in Northwood, HA6, on the other side of London, so travel is planned into the day rather than assumed. We are glad to photograph here and would build the schedule around the journey.
