Knebworth is the one venue in this set with two published postcodes, and it matters on the day: SG1 2AX is the one to give a sat nav, while SG3 6PY is for deliveries to the Estate Office, Barns or House.

What Knebworth publishes, and the questions it leaves open
What Knebworth publishes:
- The House and the Barns are licensed for civil ceremonies.
- The garden gazebo in the formal gardens is used for outdoor ceremonies.
- The venue seats 50 to 150 for a wedding breakfast, with the Barns taking up to 300 for an after party.
- Access is direct from the Junction 7 roundabout of the A1(M) at Stevenage South, 29 miles north of London.
What it does not publish: catering policy, whether outside or Asian caterers are permitted, parking, exclusive use, mandap, havan or baraat. Third-party listings make claims on catering and on a 180-guest ceremony licence; the venue's own pages do not, so we have not stated them as fact.
A house, two barns and a garden gazebo
The split between the House, the Barns and the gazebo means a wedding here is usually three locations rather than one. Every move costs time, and the walk between them is not trivial.
Because the after-party capacity (300) is double the seated capacity (150), the room changes character sharply between the breakfast and the evening. Expect to relight.
Parking is not published, and photographers usually arrive with cases. Confirm where suppliers unload before the day, and use SG3 6PY rather than the sat nav postcode if you are dropping equipment at the Barns.
The 1843 to 1845 Gothic frontage is the shot the house is known for, and it faces one way. Which side of the day it works on depends on your date, so decide the exterior portrait time before the running order is fixed rather than after.
Because the venue publishes no parking count and two different postcodes, supplier logistics deserve a phone call rather than an assumption. Equipment goes to SG3 6PY; guests go to SG1 2AX.
The Gothic house and the Knebworth Barns
Knebworth House is Grade II* listed, and its gardens are separately listed Grade II* on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The Lytton family held it from 1490 until 1947, when it passed to their daughter Hermione Cobbold, and the Cobbold family own it today.
The Tudor Gothic exterior people recognise is not original: Henry Edward Kendall Jr remodelled the house between 1843 and 1845, and that is the silhouette in every photograph of it.
The grounds are also a concert venue. The Knebworth Festival has run in the park since 1974, when the first event drew 60,000 people, and Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Oasis have all played there. It is worth checking the events calendar against your date before you commit.
