Photo Studio in Northwood, London

A proper working studio in North West London, portrait, family, baby and headshot sessions by appointment, and a walk-in counter for passport photos, printing, framing and restoration.

The short answer

Looking for a photo studio near you?

If you are searching for a photo studio in North West London, ours is at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, a short walk from Northwood Underground station on the Metropolitan line and within easy reach of Pinner, Ruislip, Rickmansworth, Harrow and Watford. It has been a working photographer's studio since 2001, run by Kaushik Bathia, a five-time European Kodak Gold award winner. Two things happen here. Sessions, portraits, family portfolios, newborn and baby photography, professional and actor headshots, are booked in advance so the lighting and backdrops are set up for you. Everyday services, passport and visa photos, photo printing, framing, scanning and restoration, are walk-in with no appointment, Monday to Saturday 10:30am to 6pm and Sunday 1pm to 6pm. Either way, you deal directly with the photographer, not a chain counter.

A studio with a photographer behind it

Plenty of places call themselves a studio. What makes this one different is who is holding the camera: an award-winning photographer with twenty-five years of weddings, portraits and commercial work, five European Kodak Gold awards, and more than 1,000 weddings photographed. The studio is where all of that experience is at your disposal for an hour, without hiring you a church hall's worth of kit you do not need.

Controlled lighting, proper backdrops, privacy and patience are what a real studio buys you. Skin tones come out true, glasses do not glare, toddlers can melt down and recover without an audience, and the photographer has time to wait for the expression that actually looks like you.

Studio or location

When the studio wins, and when it doesn't

The studio earns its keep when control matters: headshots that need clean, even light; newborn sessions that need warmth, safety and no interruptions; product photography that needs consistency across a whole range; winter portraits when the weather will not cooperate. Nothing outdoors can guarantee those conditions.

But we are not precious about four walls. Family sessions often work beautifully in a favourite park, pet portraits can mean a walk on the common, and weddings obviously come to you. Because the studio is a base rather than a limit, we advise honestly on which setting suits your brief, and price is never the reason to choose one over the other, every commission is quoted individually either way.

If you are weighing it up, our portrait page shows both settings side by side, or just ask when you enquire and we will recommend the right one for your brief.

Finding us

Getting to the studio

The studio sits on The Broadway, 21 Joel Street, Northwood HA6 1NU, in the middle of Northwood's shopping parade. By Tube, take the Metropolitan line to Northwood station and walk a few minutes down to Joel Street; by car there is parking close to the parade, which makes dropping in with framed artwork, boxes of old photographs or a car seat full of baby straightforward. That accessibility matters more than it sounds: a studio you can actually park outside is the difference between finally getting the family archive scanned and putting it off for another year. We are minutes from Pinner, Ruislip, Rickmansworth and Moor Park, with Harrow and Watford a short drive away, and clients travel from across London for sessions, see all the areas we serve. One roof

Capture, print and preserve, in one place

Most photography today stops at a file. This studio is built around the whole life of a photograph: the session that creates it, the print that makes it real, the frame that puts it on the wall, and, decades later, the restoration and scanning that bring it back. Families who came in for a wedding in 2001 now bring in their parents' albums to digitise and their children for portraits, and that is exactly how a local studio should work.

Whatever brings you in first, a passport photo before a holiday, a headshot before an interview, a frame for a gift, you will know where to come for the rest.
