I attended Northwood Hills Studio-Kaushik Bathia photography with my family and I had the most amazing time. My family was made to feel extremely relaxed and welcomed, and the result was some fabulous images He was organised and professional and kept everything stress free. A very enjoyable day out with fantastic photos as a result.
We had a family shoot at the studio, Kaushik took some wonderful photos. He was excellent with the kids and was very good at making them smile naturally, the end results were brilliant. We purchased a canvas and 2 further large framed photos. All completed on time and to perfection. Very pleased.

Who will photograph your family
Family sessions are photographed by Kaushik Bathia, who has worked from the studio on Joel Street in Northwood since 2001, so the person you speak to when you book is the person behind the camera on the day, and the person who helps you choose your prints afterwards.
Kaushik is a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photography (FBIPP) and a Fellow of the Master Photographers Association (FMPA), and his work has earned five European Kodak Gold Awards. Those qualifications are judged on finished prints, which is why so much care goes into how your family portraits look on the wall, not only on a screen.

What a family photoshoot with us involves
A family photoshoot is a relaxed session, usually about an hour, where we capture natural portraits and candid moments of your family together, in our natural-light Northwood studio or on location at a park or place you love. You leave with a private online gallery to choose from, and we can turn your favourites into prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album. It is designed to feel like time spent together, not a formal sitting. Family sessions suit almost everyone: new parents marking a first year, families with school-age children who never stay still, teenagers who would rather be anywhere else, and grandparents who want everyone in one frame while they can. Extended and multi-generation groups often come together around a birthday, an anniversary or a festival such as Diwali or Eid, when the whole family is in one place. Whoever we are photographing, the aim is the same: warm, honest pictures that still feel like you in ten years.

At your home
We come to you for relaxed family portraits in your own home or garden, where children are at their most comfortable among their own toys and routines. A home session is often the easiest choice with a new baby or with grandparents who prefer not to travel.
Park and home sessions are available within about 20 miles of the studio, which covers much of London and nearby Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Travel costs are set out in writing before you book. Cake smash sessions are studio only.

Plan your session
We start with a quick chat about who we are photographing, whether you want the studio or a local park, and any milestones to mark. Once booked, we send a simple what-to-wear guide so everyone looks like a set.
The shoot
Around an hour, led by the children's mood rather than a rigid shot list. We play, wander and let the real moments happen. Outdoor shoots work best in soft light, such as an autumn afternoon or a summer evening in a London park.
Viewing and gallery
A week or two later you receive a private online gallery of edited images. We hold an unhurried viewing to help you choose favourites, revisit the milestones worth capturing and pick the right prints or album.
Prints, frames and albums
Your portraits are finished as fine-art prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album, produced to a professional standard and ready to treasure or give as gifts.

In our natural-light London studio, or on location at local spots such as Pinner Memorial Park or Ruislip Woods, whichever suits your family best.
That is completely normal and we plan for it. Sessions are led by the children's mood, with plenty of play, so the natural moments happen without forcing anyone to pose.
Family galleries are usually ready within one to two weeks, and we can present your favourites as prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album.
Most family sessions start with a sitting fee that covers the shoot and viewing, with prints, frames and albums chosen afterwards from your gallery. Because every family wants something different, we give you a clear price for your session and products before you book, with no obligation to spend more.
Allow around one hour. That is long enough to warm up, capture relaxed groups, individual portraits and candid moments, but short enough that younger children do not run out of patience. Extended family and multi-generation shoots can run a little longer by arrangement.
Choose colours that sit together rather than a strict matching uniform. Soft tones, denim and knits photograph beautifully, and layers add texture. Avoid busy logos and slogans. We share a simple what-to-wear guide once you book so everyone looks like themselves and the family looks like a set.
Absolutely. Multi-generation portraits with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins work especially well when the whole family is together for a birthday, anniversary or festival. Let us know numbers in advance so we can plan the groupings.
Yes. We come to you for family sessions at your home or in your garden, anywhere within about 20 miles of the Northwood studio. Home is often the most relaxed setting for young children, new babies and grandparents, because everyone is in familiar surroundings.
Park and home sessions are available within about 20 miles of our studio in Northwood, which takes in much of London plus south Hertfordshire and south Buckinghamshire. If you are unsure whether you are inside that distance, send us your postcode and we will confirm. Any travel costs are set out in writing before you book.
