What a family photoshoot with us involves

A family photoshoot is a relaxed session, usually about an hour, where we capture natural portraits and candid moments of your family together, in our natural-light Northwood studio or on location at a park or place you love. You leave with a private online gallery to choose from, and we can turn your favourites into prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album. It is designed to feel like time spent together, not a formal sitting.

Family sessions suit almost everyone: new parents marking a first year, families with school-age children who never stay still, teenagers who would rather be anywhere else, and grandparents who want everyone in one frame while they can. We photograph a lot of extended and multi-generation groups, and these often come together around a birthday, an anniversary or a festival such as Diwali when the whole family is in one place. Whoever we are photographing, the aim is the same: warm, honest pictures that still feel like you in ten years.

Plan your session

We start with a quick chat about who we are photographing, whether you want the studio or a local park, and any milestones to mark. Once booked, we send a simple what-to-wear guide so everyone looks like a set.

The shoot

Around an hour, led by the children's mood rather than a rigid shot list. We play, wander and let the real moments happen. Outdoor shoots work best in the golden light of an autumn afternoon or a summer session in a London park.

Viewing and gallery

A week or two later you receive a private online gallery of edited images. We hold an unhurried viewing to help you choose favourites, revisit the milestones worth capturing and pick the right prints or album.

Your portraits are finished as fine-art prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album, produced to a professional standard and ready to treasure or give as gifts.

What if my children won't sit still?+

That is completely normal and we plan for it. Sessions are led by the children's mood, with plenty of play, so the natural moments happen without forcing anyone to pose.

How do we receive our photographs?+

Family galleries are usually ready within one to two weeks, and we can present your favourites as prints, framed wall art or a hand-finished album.

How much does a family photoshoot in London cost?+

Most family sessions start with a sitting fee that covers the shoot and viewing, with prints, frames and albums chosen afterwards from your gallery. Because every family wants something different, we give you a clear price for your session and products before you book, with no obligation to spend more.

How long does a family session last?+

Allow around one hour. That is long enough to warm up, capture relaxed groups, individual portraits and candid moments, but short enough that younger children do not run out of patience. Extended family and multi-generation shoots can run a little longer by arrangement.

What should we wear for a family photoshoot?+

Choose colours that sit together rather than a strict matching uniform. Soft tones, denim and knits photograph beautifully, and layers add texture. Avoid busy logos and slogans. We share a simple what-to-wear guide once you book so everyone looks like themselves and the family looks like a set.
