Absolutely, pets are welcome. The family dog belongs in the picture as much as anyone, and a well-behaved companion is no trouble at all. Let us know beforehand and we will plan around them, keeping the whole group, furry members included, nicely relaxed. Locally in Ickenham that takes in Swakeleys House, a Grade I listed Jacobean mansion.
They do not need to. We never expect toddlers to sit still and smile on command, so instead we turn the session into play and photograph the genuine moments. Some of our favourite images come from children who are busy being themselves. This applies across Ickenham and Ruislip, Hillingdon and Northolt.
Both. Outdoors we use Swakeleys Park, which is the usual choice from spring through autumn; the open ground lets us work close to where you park instead of pushing a pram across the whole park. The Northwood studio is the indoor option, and it is the better one for babies, for anyone unsteady on their feet, and on any day the forecast is against us.
Because what is on offer is a location and a running order rather than an adjective. Swakeleys Park is the ground, the Victorian village pump is where we meet, and the session stays inside a short radius so pushchairs and older relatives are not marched about. The Northwood studio sits behind it as the indoor fallback. Ruislip, Hillingdon and Northolt are covered on the same basis.
Yes, and for a family session coming to you is the normal arrangement rather than the exception. We meet you at Swakeleys Park rather than asking anybody to load a car full of children and drive to Northwood. Ruislip, Hillingdon and Northolt work the same way. The only sessions starting at the studio are the indoor ones and the ones driven indoors by rain.

A family session at Swakeleys Park is easier to plan than most, because the park is open and that means nobody has to be walked anywhere to find usable light. That is worth more than it sounds when the group contains a three year old and somebody who would prefer a short walk. We pick a working spot within sight of where you have parked and stay there. Everything after that is a question of order. Small children have one good stretch in them and it arrives at the beginning. So the picture with all of you in it gets taken while the youngest still finds a camera interesting, not at the end when it has turned into an instruction. After that the session loosens off: pairs, the children by themselves, the adults by themselves, and the chasing about that produces the frames people actually hang up. Nobody is asked to hold a smile for twenty minutes, because nobody can. The open ground has one drawback and it is worth naming. There is no shelter in it. Rain in Ickenham is the same rain as everywhere else, but a park with nothing overhead leaves you no fallback on the spot, so the Northwood studio is what we hold back, and it is a real alternative rather than a consolation. Controlled light, a clean background and a warm floor suit a toddler better than a cold field does in any case.
