Serving Hayes
Family sessions cover Hayes along with Yeading, Harlington and Hayes End, outdoors in the grounds at Barra Hall Park or indoors at Northwood. Bookings here are frequently larger than one household: grandparents, brothers and their children, everybody assembled in one go, because assembling them a second time is never going to happen.
One practical point. Tell us how many people are coming when you book, not on the morning. Twenty wants a different piece of ground, a different lens and a different quantity of daylight than six does, and choosing all three in advance is what stops the afternoon turning into a negotiation.

What we offer
Three generations in one frame is the usual booking here, and the ground gets chosen for exactly that.
Barra Hall Park for the open lawns, or indoors at Northwood when the sky refuses to cooperate.
Prams, wheelchairs and grandparents who cannot stand long decide the spot before the light gets a vote.
Local and experienced
Nothing is held for longer than about a minute. Small children get one short instruction, then get left alone, and the useful frames turn up in the gaps between instructions, which is why the camera keeps running between setups.
You receive the set edited in colour, with a handful converted to mono where a bright coat or a red jumper was dragging the eye off somebody's face. Prints are ordered later if you want them. There is no album to decline.

Good to know
Pick two or three tones that sit together and let everyone choose their own clothes inside that range. Outfits that match exactly photograph worse than people expect. Keep the strongest colour on whoever the picture is really about, usually the eldest. Avoid bright white beside black, since one burns out as the other fills in. Bring a spare top for anyone likely to spill something.
Yes. Book it for the final stretch of the third trimester, late enough for the shape to be unmistakable and early enough that standing about for an hour is no hardship. Most are done indoors at Northwood because the light can be shaped there, though we photograph at home in Hayes if travelling has lost its appeal. Partners and older children come into some frames and stay out of others.
Yes, and at your address in Hayes rather than ours. A newborn session runs on the baby's clock, so allow two or three hours to get perhaps forty minutes of actual photography, with feeds and settling in between. The first fortnight is the easiest window, although later works fine. We set up beside a window with the heating turned up.
Soon, as we keep things moving swiftly. Following your Hayes session, we hand-pick and edit the images with care before sharing a private gallery online. You are then free to browse and choose prints, canvases and albums whenever suits you, with no pressure.
Yes, and lots of Hayes families do. A first-year package follows your baby from their newborn session through sitting up and first steps, finishing with a cake smash on the first birthday. It is a lovely way to record just how fast they grow.
Serving Hayes
Our studio is in Northwood, so Hayes (UB3) is part of our core Greater London area. It sits close to Hillingdon and Uxbridge, which we cover too. Sessions run at the studio or on location in Hayes, and there is no travel charge for local bookings.
Hayes is a west London town in the London Borough of Hillingdon with a large South Asian community. Hayes and Harlington station is served by the Elizabeth line towards Paddington and Reading. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Barra Hall Park, close to the well-known Barra Hall.

Hayes has a large South Asian community and the practical effect on family bookings is size. A fair proportion of the groups asked for here are not two parents and a child but three generations at once, sometimes four, with brothers and their families arriving in separate cars. That shifts the requirement from a pretty background to a piece of ground that will take fifteen or twenty people standing level and firm, within a short walk of wherever the cars end up. The grounds at Barra Hall Park are the obvious place to look for it, since a park that began as the setting for a house is a different shape from one built as playing fields. The craft problem with a group that wide is light, not arrangement. Fifteen people spread across five or six metres cannot all be turned towards the same sun, so one end of the line squints while the other sits in shade. A grey even sky solves it outright. Failing that, put the sun behind the group and lift the faces with our own light. The second rule is depth. We stand well back and use a longer lens, which keeps the people on the ends of the line the same shape as the people in the middle. Then build the pictures in order. Everybody together first, while the toddlers are still interested, then the grandparents seated, then each household, then the children by themselves. By the time the small ones run out of patience the frame the whole afternoon was arranged for already exists.
