Unlike a snapshot or a cropped holiday photo, it is shot with controlled light, a considered background and direction on posture and expression, so you look approachable, credible and current. We photograph four main kinds of headshot from our Northwood studio and on location within about 20 miles, including central London: LinkedIn and corporate portraits for professionals and whole teams, actor and acting headshots for casting, personal-branding portraits for founders and freelancers, and on-location team shoots at your own offices. How to prepare for your headshot
Most of what makes a headshot work happens before you sit down. A little preparation means less time adjusting on the day and more time getting the expression right.
- Clothes: choose solid, well-fitted colours that suit your industry. Avoid busy patterns, fine stripes and bright logos, which pull the eye away from your face in a head-and-shoulders crop. Bring two or three options.
- Match the purpose: for LinkedIn or a company profile, dress as you would for a client meeting. For acting headshots, look like yourself on a good ordinary day, so casting directors see the person who will walk into the room.
- Hair and grooming: have a haircut a week or so beforehand rather than the day before, and keep make-up natural and matt.
- Glasses: if you wear them every day, wear them for at least some frames, so the picture matches the person people will meet.
- Rest: a good night's sleep shows in your eyes more than anything else.

We set the light and background, then guide you through posture, angle and expression, reviewing frames with you as we go so nothing is a surprise.

You review the selects and choose your favourites. For teams we keep crop and framing identical across every person so your website looks consistent.
Retouching
Your chosen frames are edited with natural, professional retouching that keeps skin and detail looking real, never plastic or over-processed.
Delivery
Final images arrive web-ready and print-ready in the sizes you need, typically within a few working days of your session.

Visiting the studio for your headshot
The studio is at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, on the Joel Street shopping parade in Northwood Hills. Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line is two minutes' walk from the door, and the line runs into central London via Baker Street. If you are driving, Pinner, Ruislip and Rickmansworth are a few minutes away, with Harrow and Watford a short drive.
We are open Monday to Saturday from 10:30 to 18:00 and on Sunday from 13:00 to 18:00. Headshot sittings are by appointment, so call or WhatsApp 07956 505383, or use the form below, and we will find a time that suits you, weekends included.
