Most of that hour goes on small adjustments that nobody thinks about until a lens is pointed at them: chin forward and slightly down, shoulders turned off square, weight on the back foot.
On site we need a corner with a couple of metres of clear floor and a socket. Retouching is limited to what a person would want gone in the week the picture was taken, never to altering the shape of a face.

Enfield Town station runs into Liverpool Street, and that one detail decides most of what a headshot from this borough has to do. Those pictures follow a narrow convention: a background carrying no story at all, light with one clear direction and a measured amount of shadow left in, and a crop tight enough that the face still reads at thumbnail size in a staff directory.
