Yes, and please mention it when booking, because it changes where we stand. If walking any distance is hard, we choose ground near where the cars are left instead of heading into the middle of Trent Park, and take the three-generation frames first, while the youngest child is still interested in us. Benches and chairs get used deliberately here, not as a last resort.

A family session in Enfield is mostly a question of how far the smallest child has to walk before anything is photographed, and Trent Park is big enough that the answer wants deciding beforehand rather than discovering on the day. Its three surfaces are not equal under a pram. The made paths through the woodland take wheels in any month. The meadow edges are fine between May and September and heavy for a week after rain. The ground beside the lakes churns first and dries last, which is exactly where a four-year-old will want to go. Where a pushchair is coming, or a grandparent who would rather not cross a field, we work within a short radius of the parked cars and move outward only if everyone is enjoying it. Driving here is the sane option anyway. The A10 Great Cambridge Road cuts across the borough, and arriving with car seats, a bag and a scooter is far easier by road than with a change of trains. Order matters more than place. Small children hand over roughly twenty minutes of real interest and then start negotiating, so the picture with everybody in it is made first, the adults and grandparents in pairs come next, and the unposed running-about frames are left to the end, when nobody minds what anyone is doing. In genuinely bad weather the Northwood room wins outright: no mud, no wind, a warm floor, and a toddler stays interested indoors considerably longer than in a cold meadow.
