Oak Hill Park in East Barnet, crossed by Pymme's Brook, is one setting for a family session, and sessions in Finchley, Whetstone and Mill Hill can be planned the same way. Once a pram or an older relative is joining, we would check paths and parking beforehand, so nobody is hauling bags any distance before the session has started.
The youngest present sets the pace. Roughly forty minutes is what a small child has in them, so anything arranged happens early and the unstructured part follows, once nothing important is depending on it. Anyone who has had enough can drop out without the whole session stopping.

…The gentleman took my family and I last minute for a photoshoot. Although we were running extremely late as we had a newborn, he waited patiently for us. He initially said he could only do 30 minutes because we were late but he ended up spending the entire hour and some minutes making sure we had the best photos.
Fantastic service, Kaushik captured some amazing shots of our family. He is patient, professional, friendly and creative which really helps when trying to get pictures with young children. Yes, and mention it at booking, since it affects our choice of meeting point. We would pick a meeting point with firm paths and parking close by, so somebody who would sooner avoid wet grass is still in the group frames. The whole family gets photographed early on, and anybody who wants to sit down afterwards can while the children keep going.
Yes, we do. Milestone sessions record the stages of a baby's first year, from sitting up to first steps and the first birthday. Spreading a few sessions across the year means each stage is recorded and the changes are lovely to revisit.
That is what it was built around. Northwood is warm, contained and quiet, with nothing breakable low down and floor enough to crawl or run about between frames. Feeds, changes and a nap can all happen on site with nobody stepping outside. In the colder months, or with an infant on a two-hour rhythm, that beats waiting about in a Barnet park.
Of course you can. A calm family dog is welcome. Some parks set dog rules, including the Hampstead Heath Extension, where signs can require a lead, so we would choose a spot with that in mind. A quick word beforehand helps us plan the frames and keep people and pet settled.

For a woodland setting, Monken Hadley Common has about 72 hectares of oak, hornbeam and beech between Monken Hadley and Cockfosters, with Jack's Lake on Pymme's Brook. For a landmark backdrop, the Hadley Highstone, an 18-foot obelisk put up in 1740, marks the site of the Battle of Barnet.
