Newborn & Baby Photographer in London & Northwood

Gentle, patient newborn, baby and maternity sessions documenting the very first chapters, in a warm, calm London studio.

The first chapter

Tender newborn and baby photography

Those first weeks pass in a blur, and they never come back. Newborn and baby photography preserves the tiny details you will ache to remember, the curl of a hand, the milk-drunk smile, how impossibly small they were.

Our studio is kept warm, calm and unhurried, and the session moves entirely at your baby's pace. We are gentle, experienced and patient, with plenty of time for feeds and cuddles. Parents and siblings are warmly welcome in the frame too.

The full story

Newborn, baby and maternity photography in London

Kaushik Bathia Photography is an award-winning newborn and baby photographer working from a warm, natural-light studio on The Broadway in Northwood, and on location across London, Hertfordshire and the wider UK. If you are searching for a newborn photographer near you, a maternity and newborn package, a baby photoshoot or a cake smash for a first birthday, this is one calm, unhurried studio that carries you through every stage of that first year.

With more than twenty-five years behind the camera and over 1,200 celebrations photographed, we know that a session with a tiny baby cannot be rushed. The studio is kept genuinely warm, feeds and cuddles are built into the time, and the whole session is led by your baby rather than by a clock. That patience is why nervous first-time parents relax so quickly, and why so many families return for maternity, newborn, sitter milestones and the messy joy of a first birthday cake smash.

We are easy to reach with a newborn in tow. Parents travel to us from across North West London and Hertfordshire, and many pair a baby session with wider family portraits as their little one grows. If you would like a session closer to home, we also photograph families as a family photographer in Northwood, Harrow, Pinner, Ruislip, Rickmansworth, Watford, Stanmore and Uxbridge. For the bigger picture of how newborn work sits alongside our other sessions, see the family photography and portrait hubs.

Good to know

Baby & Newborn Photography FAQs

Newborn sessions are loveliest in the first two to three weeks, when babies sleep deeply and curl up naturally. It helps to enquire before your due date so we can pencil you in.

Yes. The studio is kept warm and calm, the session is entirely led by your baby's needs, and everything is handled gently and patiently with time for feeds and cuddles.

Absolutely. Parents, siblings and grandparents are warmly welcome in the frame, these often become the most treasured images of all.

Allow two to three hours for a newborn session. Tiny babies set the pace, so we build in time for feeds, changes and settling. Milestone and cake smash sessions are usually shorter, around one to two hours.

Bring feeds, spare babygrows, a dummy if your baby uses one and any favourite wrap or toy. For a sitter session pack a snack, and for a cake smash bring the cake, an outfit change and plenty of wipes. We provide wraps, props and backdrops.

Yes. Many parents book a maternity session at 28 to 34 weeks and a newborn session in the first fortnight. Photographing both stages tells the fuller story, from bump to first cuddles, and can be combined into one package.

A cake smash celebrates a first birthday, with baby happily demolishing a cake for playful, messy portraits, often finished with a splash or bath set. Book it around 11 to 13 months, close to the birthday, once your little one can sit confidently.

Yes. Alongside your digital gallery you can order fine-art prints, framed wall pieces and handcrafted albums. We help you choose so these first weeks live on your wall, not only on a phone.
