The short answer

Where can I get a baby passport photo near me?

You can walk into the studio at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU with your baby at any time during opening hours, Monday to Saturday 10:30 to 18:00 and Sunday 13:00 to 18:00, with no appointment. A very young baby is laid on a plain sheet or a supportive backdrop so the background stays clean, and we wait for a calm, eyes-open moment rather than rushing the shot. Every photo is checked against His Majesty's Passport Office rules before it is printed, and the digital code for an online application comes with the prints.

The visit

How a baby passport photo is taken

Photographing a baby to the passport standard takes patience more than speed. We settle your baby on a plain sheet or supportive backdrop, keep the light even, and take the frame when the face is clear and the expression is calm. Older children are photographed quickly and kindly, so the expression stays neutral and natural.

Each frame is reviewed on screen against the official rules, and only printed once it passes. If the whole family needs photos for the same trip, we can do everyone in one visit.

The rules

What the passport photo has to show

A UK passport photo is 35mm wide by 45mm tall, against a plain cream or light grey background with no shadows. The face must be clearly visible, with a neutral expression and the mouth closed, eyes open and uncovered, and no hat or head covering unless it is worn for religious or medical reasons.

The photo must also be recent, taken within the last month, which matters with a baby whose face changes week by week. We check each of these points before you leave, so the application is not held up by the picture.

Before you come

Tips for a calm visit

There is nothing to book and nothing to fill in first. A fed, rested baby is usually the calmest sitter, so many parents pop in after a feed or a nap. Plain clothes that contrast with a pale background work best.

The studio is two minutes' walk from Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line, with parking close by, which makes dropping in with a baby in a car seat straightforward.
