The short answer
The nearest place we can offer is our own studio at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, about 3 miles from Harrow town centre. It is a walk-in counter, so you do not need an appointment: bring your baby when they are fed and settled, and we photograph them on a plain sheet, check the result against the passport rules and print it while you wait. The code for an online application is included. From Harrow-on-the-Hill station the Metropolitan line takes you to Northwood Hills without a change, and the studio is two minutes' walk from the platform.
I love this studio. So friendly and professional. I use them for all my family photography needs. In addition, I have been using him for mine and the kids passport photos for UK Ireland and America for years.
Highly recommended for baby passport photos. Very friendly service and even got my 6 week old to smile for the first time ever!
Kaushik was very nice, helpful, quick and knowledgeable about Hungarian passport photo requirements. Recommended.
Worth the short trip
Baby passport photos are easy to get wrong: a shadow behind the head, a parent's hand in shot or a background that is not plain can each make one unsuitable. Taking it with a photographer who checks every frame against the rules means one trip, not two.
Because there is no booking, you can choose the day and time that suits your baby. Many parents come on a weekend afternoon when both of them are free; the studio opens on Sundays from 13:00.
How it works
A newborn is laid on its back on a pale sheet and photographed from above, which keeps the background clean without anyone needing to hold the head. Babies who can sit are photographed sitting, and toddlers are encouraged to look at the camera for a second or two with a toy held just above it.
If the family is travelling together, older children and adults can have their photos taken in the same visit, so you only make the journey from Harrow once.
From Harrow
By Tube, take the Metropolitan line from Harrow-on-the-Hill, the station at the foot of the hill by St Anns Shopping Centre, towards Uxbridge or Watford and get off at Northwood Hills; there is no change. The studio is on the shopping parade on Joel Street, right beside the station.
By road it is about 3 miles, with parking close by the parade. TfL bus routes 282, 331 and H11 between them link Northwood Hills with Harrow and the surrounding area, which suits parents with a buggy who would rather avoid the station stairs.
