Enquire while pregnant
A provisional date around your due date keeps a newborn slot ready, then we fix the day once your baby is home.

A calm, unhurried newborn session in your own home, in the first couple of weeks, for families from Kingston and Wimbledon to Brixton and Greenwich.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs newborns at home across South London, from Richmond upon Thames, about 12 miles from Northwood, to Lewisham at about 19.8. Aim for days 5 to 14 after the birth, while a newborn still sleeps deeply and curls up. Allow two to three hours so feeds and settling are never rushed. Prices come by phone or WhatsApp on request, and travel from Northwood is set out in your written quote before you book.
Me and my heavily pregnant Fiancee visited here as a birthday gift from a friend of hers and had a LOVELY experience, Kaushik made us feel VERY welcomed and comfortable and we also had a good laugh. He was also very clear and precise with his instruction with regards to posing so we could get the best picture. Overall a very nice experience and would recommend.
Really appreciated the effort that went into the photoshoot and getting my baby to smile for the photos. Lovely photos to take home. Would recommend.
Me and my family are coming to this studio since last year to have our Christmas picture taken. We've been this year and for sure we are gonna come next year!!!
Timing
The sleepy, curled newborn pictures happen in a short window: roughly the first 5 to 14 days. After that babies wake more easily and uncurl, which is lovely in its own way but a different set of photographs. So the best moment to get in touch is during pregnancy. We pencil in a provisional date around your due date, then fix the day once the baby arrives.
Babies rarely keep to the plan, and a provisional booking moves with them. If your baby comes early, late, or after a longer hospital stay, just call or WhatsApp when you are home and settled and we will find the next calm day. A newborn session a little later than two weeks still works; the poses change, the baby does not.

In your home
Kaushik comes to you, so you are not packing a changing bag on day nine. A spare bedroom, a sitting room with a big window or the corner of your own bed all work; what matters is floor space for a few minutes and daylight from one side. A Victorian terrace in Herne Hill and a new-build flat near Battersea Power Station make equally good newborn rooms.
Please make the room warm before the session starts. Newborns sleep better and settle faster when they are cosy, and they will spend part of the session lightly wrapped. Have feeds, spare babygrows, a dummy if your baby uses one and a favourite wrap within reach. Everything else follows the baby: if they want feeding, we stop; if they want a cuddle, that becomes a picture too.
Care
A newborn session cannot be rushed, so we never try. Every pose is led by your baby's mood, nothing is forced, and comfort and safety come first at every moment. If a position does not suit your baby, we move on. Parents stay close the whole time, and you can stop for a feed, a change or a walk round the room whenever your baby needs one.
Allow two to three hours. Most of that time is settling, feeding and cuddling rather than pressing the shutter, and that pace is the reason the pictures look peaceful. Kaushik has run the business since 2001 and holds five European Kodak Gold Awards, and that experience shows mostly as calm. More on the approach is on the newborn and baby photography page.

The family
An older brother or sister meeting the baby can become the picture you frame first. Small siblings do best at the start, before boredom sets in, so plan their part early and let them go off to play afterwards. A favourite book or snack helps. If grandparents are visiting from across South London or further, a three-generation picture takes a few minutes and is worth arranging.
Parents belong in the set too. A few pictures of you holding your baby, close up and unposed, often mean the most years later. Wear something plain and comfortable in a soft colour, and do not worry about looking tired; everyone does at two weeks.
Distance and options
The South London towns here run from Richmond upon Thames at about 12 miles from Northwood, through Wandsworth at 13.7, Kingston at 14 and Lambeth at 14.7, to Sutton at 19.1, Greenwich at 19.4 and Lewisham at 19.8. Travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book, so you know the whole cost before the day.
Some parents would rather have a quiet trip out once the first week is over, and for them the Northwood studio is an alternative, kept warm and set up for babies. For a South London family, though, a home session in that first fortnight can be simpler. Ask about either when you call; you can also read the South London family photography page for later sessions.

The first year
The newborn pictures can sit inside a longer set. A maternity session in South London at 28 to 34 weeks starts it; the newborn session follows. A sitter session at around 6 to 9 months catches the first proper smiles, and a cake smash at 11 to 13 months closes the year.
Once the baby is a few months old, a walk in a park near home becomes possible. Morden Hall Park's footbridges over the River Wandle, Manor House Gardens in Lee with its lake and walled flower garden, or Grove Park by Carshalton's Lower Pond all suit a pram-friendly family session.
Planning
A provisional date around your due date keeps a newborn slot ready, then we fix the day once your baby is home.
Heat the room before the session starts; newborns settle faster when cosy. A window with daylight from one side is all the set we need.
Feeds, changes and cuddles are built in. The baby sets the pace, not the clock.
Plan the older child's pictures for the start, while they are fresh, then let them go and play.

Good to know
Ideally in the first 5 to 14 days, when babies sleep deeply and curl naturally. Get in touch before your due date so a provisional slot is ready, then call or WhatsApp once you are home. A session a little after two weeks still works well, with more awake and stretched-out pictures.
Yes. Kaushik comes to your home anywhere in the South London area on this page, including Wimbledon in Merton, about 16 miles from Northwood, and Kingston upon Thames at about 14. Your written quote lists the travel from Northwood before you commit to a date.
A warm room, some clear floor space near a window, and feeds, spare babygrows, a dummy if used and a favourite wrap within reach. Tidy only the corner we will photograph; the rest of the house can stay as it is in week two.
Allow two to three hours. Most of that is settling, feeding and cuddling, which is what keeps the session calm and the pictures peaceful. If your baby needs a long feed in the middle, we simply wait.
Your baby leads each pose and nothing is pushed; comfort and safety outrank any picture. Parents stay close the whole time, and if a position does not suit your baby, we leave it out and try something else.
Yes, and those sibling pictures are often the favourites. Plan the toddler's part for the start of the session, keep a snack or book handy, and let them go off to play once they have had enough.
Prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383, and depend on the session and the prints or album you choose. Your quote shows the travel from Northwood separately, in writing, before you book.
