Ask the committee early

The Anand Karaj, the laavan around the Guru Granth Sahib and the doli at the end of the day: Kaushik Bathia photographs Sikh weddings in South London, about 12 to 20 miles from Northwood.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia, established in 2001 and rated 4.8 from 580+ Google reviews, photographs Sikh and Punjabi weddings in South London: the maiyan and jago at home, the milni and Anand Karaj at the gurdwara, the four laavan, the doli and the reception. Inside the gurdwara he follows its dress code and photography rules. Wedding photography is from £750, with travel from Northwood in your written quote.

The gurdwara morning
The Anand Karaj takes place in front of the Guru Granth Sahib, and Kaushik follows the gurdwara's dress code and photography rules like every guest. Those rules differ from one gurdwara to the next, so tell us which one you have booked and ask the committee for its guidance; the coverage is planned around what they say, including where the camera stands for the four laavan.
Tooting, about 16 miles from Northwood, has a large British Asian community, with 28.8% of residents recorded as Asian or Asian British in the 2011 census, and a run of South Asian restaurants on and around its high street. For a family living there, the morning can move from a house in SW17 to the gurdwara and on to a banqueting suite in Tooting or Mitcham without a long drive between them.
After the ceremony the langar is served, a good time for natural pictures of the two families together, with the gurdwara's guidance on the langar hall followed there too.

Before the gurdwara
The milni, where the elders of the two families meet and exchange garlands, happens at the entrance before the ceremony. On a busy South London road the space outside can be limited, so it helps to know in advance where each family will stand. A dhol and a baraat procession may also need checking with the gurdwara, and with the council, for what is allowed on the street.
Earlier days bring the maiyan and vatna at home, the choora ceremony and the jago, with its lit pots and singing late into the night. In a house in Streatham or a hall in Sutton, these are lively, crowded evenings, and they are photographed in a completely different way from the gurdwara.
From gurdwara to reception
Between the gurdwara and the reception there is usually a gap for portraits. In the south-west, Canbury Gardens on Kingston's riverside has a bandstand and Thames views, and Cannizaro Park beside Wimbledon Common has ponds, sculpture and flowering shrubs. Further east, Southwark Park has a boating lake and bandstand, and Brockwell Park in Lambeth has ponds, ancient oaks and a walled flower garden.
Reception venues in this area range from banqueting suites to riverside houses and hotels. Travel between the gurdwara, the park and the reception sits inside the plan for the day, and the journey from Northwood to the first venue is set out in your written quote before you book.
The doli, the emotional farewell as the couple leaves, can happen at the family home or at the end of the reception. Plan the time and place so the family is gathered, and tell us when it is expected so the coverage runs until it is done.

Legal side
If you hold a civil ceremony as well as the Anand Karaj, South London's council rooms come in many sizes. Wandsworth Town Hall's Grand Chamber holds 100, Merton's Morden Park House has three main ceremony rooms and a courtyard, and Greenwich's register office uses Woolwich Town Hall's Edwardian Room for 36 or Victoria Hall for 130.
York House in Twickenham, Richmond's ceremony venue, has the glass-domed Winter Garden for up to 40, which suits a small civil ceremony on a weekday before the wedding weekend. Kingston's Old Court House, in the Guildhall, has the wood-panelled Oak Room for 70.

Planning
Gurdwaras set their own photography rules for the darbar hall and the langar; ask before the day and share the answer with us.
On a narrow South London street, agree where both families line up for the milni so the garland exchange is not squeezed against traffic.
The jago can run late with lit pots and singing; give us the expected finish so the evening coverage is planned to the end.
Allow time between the gurdwara and the reception for portraits in a park such as Canbury Gardens in Kingston or Brockwell Park in Lambeth.

Good to know
Whichever one you book. Tell us the gurdwara and any photography guidance its committee gives, and the coverage is planned around it, from the milni at the door to the langar afterwards. If the reception is in Tooting or Mitcham, say so too, so the timings between them can be set.
Yes. The pre-wedding events at home are part of Sikh wedding coverage. Streatham is in Lambeth, which is about 14.7 miles from the Northwood studio, and the travel for each day is shown in your written quote.
Wedding photography is from £750. Packages are built around your day, so the price depends on how many events you want covered, for how long, and whether you add a second photographer, a pre-wedding shoot or an album. Travel from Northwood is part of the written quote.
Yes. When both families get ready at the same time, perhaps one in Kingston and one in Sutton, a second photographer can cover the other family's preparations while Kaushik is at the first home. Ask for it when you enquire.
Yes. The doli is one of the most emotional moments of a Sikh wedding, whether it happens at home or at the end of the reception. Tell us when and where it is planned, and the coverage is booked to include it.
Yes, with a Royal Parks permit. Wedding photography in Bushy Park, more than 1,000 acres beside Hampton Court Palace with Wren's Diana Fountain, needs a permit for up to ten people for one hour. Apply through the park office and tell us the time slot.
