Engagement, pre-wedding and anniversary shoots on the South Bank, in Maritime Greenwich, along the Thames at Kingston or anywhere in South London that means something to the two of you.
The short answer
South London gives you the Thames at Bankside and Greenwich, old streets in Southwark and Kingston, and Brixton's Windrush Square. Kaushik Bathia photographs engagement, pre-wedding and couples shoots across South London, usually one to two hours with one or two outfits. Ask for a price by phone or WhatsApp; your written quote sets out the travel from Northwood before you book.
I had a photoshoot recently and it was such a great experience. Everyone was lovely and made us comfortable. The pictures looks great as well I am very pleased. I will definitely come back when the opportunity arises again,
My daughter and her fiancé went to Kaushik for their photos, and we had a wonderful experience. He is incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. He really took his time with them and captured beautiful, professional-quality photos. We highly recommend Kaushik Photography!
I had an amazing experience with Kaushik Bathia. They were professional, friendly, and made me feel completely comfortable during the shoot. The photos came out beautifully — natural, vibrant, and exactly what I hoped for. Highly recommend
Bankside
Bankside packs a lot into a short walk. Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the 1599 playhouse, completed in 1997 close to the original site. Tate Modern fills the former Bankside Power Station. A few minutes east, the ruins of Winchester Palace on Clink Street keep a wall of the Great Hall with a rose window, and it can be viewed from the pavement, which makes it an easy backdrop with no access to arrange.
Further on, Southwark Cathedral's Grade I exterior and the galleried 17th-century George Inn on Borough High Street add old stone and timber, and Potters Fields Park sits between City Hall and Tower Bridge. Bankside is busy, so an early start gives you quieter streets. See the Southwark portrait page for more spots nearby.

Greenwich
Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, puts the Old Royal Naval College, the Queen's House, the Royal Observatory and the Cutty Sark within walking distance of each other. The college was built between 1696 and 1712 to Christopher Wren's design, and its colonnades give a formal, symmetrical setting for a pre-wedding portrait. Cutty Sark Gardens and Greenwich Pier add the river.
Up the hill, Croom's Hill is lined with houses from the 17th century onwards, many of them Grade II listed, and the 1902 Greenwich foot tunnel runs 370 metres under the Thames from beside the Cutty Sark. Greenwich Park is a Royal Park, so wedding and lifestyle photography there needs a permit, each covering up to ten people for one hour. Plan the park part with that in mind.
Streets with a story
If parks feel too polite, Lambeth has streets with character. Van Gogh Walk in Stockwell is a resident-led street turned community space, with planting inspired by the painter and quotes from his letters carved into the raised planters. Windrush Square in central Brixton holds the African and Caribbean War Memorial and a pavilion designed by Sir David Adjaye, beside the Black Cultural Archives.
In Vauxhall, the Pleasure Gardens entrance on Kennington Lane is framed by two monumental columns topped by figures in 17th-century dress. The Rookery beside Streatham Common is a gentler option, a listed garden with a cascade of ornamental ponds and a White Garden. Pick a place that means something to you and the pictures will carry it.

Asian pre-wedding
An Asian pre-wedding shoot can be a bigger production: two or three outfits, perhaps a lehenga or a sherwani for one set and something modern for another. That needs somewhere to change and a route that does not involve carrying a heavy outfit across a common. A home start, then one or two nearby locations, usually works best.
Tooting, where 28.8% of residents were Asian or Asian British in the 2011 census, has the Tooting Bec Lido with its brightly coloured changing-cubicle doors, a popular filming location (ask the lido before planning pictures there), and the Grade I listed former Granada cinema. A pre-wedding shoot can be added to your Asian wedding photography, and the South London wedding page covers the day itself.
How it runs
Book the shoot early enough for the pictures to be useful: save-the-dates, a wedding website, a print for guests to sign at the reception. Several months before the wedding is a sensible target. An engagement shoot also gives you a practice run with your wedding photographer, so the camera feels familiar on the day itself.
The session lasts one to two hours. It starts with walking and chatting, then moves between lightly guided poses and candid moments, with small prompts about where to stand and how to hold each other. Kaushik comes to the South London location you choose, or you can use the Northwood studio in any weather. For a location shoot, travel from Northwood is quoted to you in writing ahead of booking.

Planning
The rose window wall on Clink Street can be viewed from the pavement, so it works as a backdrop with nothing to book.
Greenwich Park needs a Royal Parks wedding and lifestyle permit for up to ten people for one hour; the college and riverside are outside the park.
A planted Stockwell street with carved quotes from the painter's letters, for couples who want a city shoot with a story.
Kingston Bridge, a five-arch Portland stone bridge of 1828, and the Clattern Bridge of around 1175 give two very different river scenes.
For an Asian pre-wedding shoot with two or three looks, start at home and choose locations a short walk apart.

Good to know
Yes. Bankside has Shakespeare's Globe, Tate Modern and the Winchester Palace ruins within a short walk, and Potters Fields Park sits by Tower Bridge. It is busy later in the day, so an early start gives you quieter streets and more space.

Usually one to two hours. That leaves time to settle in, try a second outfit and get a mix of guided and candid pictures without rushing between places.
Yes. Two or three outfits are common, so plan somewhere to change and keep the locations close together. Starting at home in Tooting or Streatham, then moving to a nearby common or street, is easier than carrying outfits across town.
Yes. A pre-wedding shoot can be added to wedding photography, along with a second photographer and a hand-finished album. Ask when you enquire about the wedding.
