For Kingston upon Thames
A sitting takes an hour or so, and most of it is walking and talking rather than posing, because the usable expressions turn up once the camera has stopped being interesting.
We stop after the first handful of frames and look at them with you, so a jacket or a spot can change while changing it is still free. Editing is done frame by frame on the pictures worth it, never as one preset across the whole run. Finished files come at print size and at web size.

What we offer
Outdoor sittings along the Kingston riverside, or the Northwood studio when the weather or the wardrobe demands it.
An hour, mostly spent walking and talking; the frames worth keeping arrive after people forget the camera.
Finished pictures come back big enough to frame and small enough to send round the same evening.
Why choose us
We think about wardrobe and colours beforehand, and are glad to advise on what photographs well in the studio. Small groups are built from the back row forward, heights staggered rather than lined up, so nobody is hidden and every face receives the same quality of light.
Individual, couple and group portraits can all be arranged, either in a single session or across a few setups. Sessions are unhurried, with time built in for changes of look and a relaxed pace throughout.

Good to know
Once we finish in Kingston upon Thames or the studio, you receive a gallery of carefully edited images to choose from. You can then order prints, frames, canvases and hand-finished albums, or simply keep the digital portraits. Editing stays natural and light, keeping you looking like yourself at your best.
We do, and they are a joy to make. Graduation marks real hard work, so we photograph it with warmth, in cap and gown if you wish. Sit for the portraits alone or with proud family, and choose prints, frames or an album to keep the day alive. Outdoors in Kingston upon Thames we would head for Canbury Gardens, riverside gardens along the Thames, with Bushy Park a short distance away.
Yes, and outdoors is the more usual choice in Kingston upon Thames. Canbury Gardens along the river is the default ground, with the town centre near All Saints Church as the alternative when a harder, more architectural backdrop suits the person. We fix the exact spot when you book and meet you there, not at a vague postcode. The Northwood studio is held in reserve for a day that turns genuinely unusable.
Yes. Canbury Gardens has both the space and the level ground for a long line without anybody clambering over anything. Tell us the number when you book, because beyond about six people we step further away and switch to a longer lens, which needs a clear run behind the camera as well as in front of it. The full group is photographed first, then broken into the smaller combinations.
Yes, portfolios are a speciality. We build a varied set of looks and lighting styles, from clean commercial frames to more characterful ones, so your book has real range. We understand what casting needs, and guide you through the different expressions and poses along the way. Locally in Kingston upon Thames that takes in The Coronation Stone and the medieval All Saints Church in the town centre.
Serving Kingston upon Thames
Kingston upon Thames is a historic riverside town in south-west London, in London. It sits close to Richmond upon Thames and Merton, which we cover too. From our Northwood base we reach Kingston upon Thames easily, whether you prefer a studio sitting or portrait photography on location.
Kingston upon Thames is a riverside town with a large South Asian and Korean community, and a historic market place in the borough of Kingston. Kingston station is served by South Western Railway with services to London Waterloo. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Canbury Gardens, close to the well-known The Coronation Stone and the medieval All Saints Church in the town centre.

Two backgrounds carry most of the portrait work in Kingston upon Thames, and they ask for opposite clothing. The town centre gives you stone. The Coronation Stone and the medieval fabric of All Saints Church are both a mid grey, and mid grey takes its colour from whatever the sky is doing above it, turning cool and faintly blue under cloud and sandy once the sun drops. Clothing pitched at that same tone simply dissolves, which rules out grey marl and pale beige more or less absolutely, while one strong dark colour worn alone keeps its edge. Canbury Gardens behaves nothing like that. It is green, low and open, and under summer foliage the paths go patchy, so the hazard is dappled light landing across a face, which is the one result no amount of editing will rescue. The compensation is depth. The far bank of the Thames sits well beyond a sitter, so it softens on its own and a head separates from it without a light being used at all. The market place offers the reverse: whatever stands behind you there is close, and it stays sharp. Season changes the plan more than the forecast does. In July the middle of the day gets refused outright and sittings move to the evening, when the sun is off the water and the greens have stopped shouting. In winter it never climbs high enough to be a problem, so usable side light lies along the riverside paths for the whole of the short day and an eleven o'clock booking in January is perfectly sound.

How it works
We travel to Kingston upon Thames rather than asking you to travel to us. On-location coverage suits weddings, corporate events, team headshots and product shoots, and we bring whatever lighting the space needs. The Northwood studio is available too if you prefer it.
