From the Hillingdon side of Hayes and Yeading to Harrow, Wembley and Edgware, Kaushik Bathia photographs Sikh weddings quietly in the gurdwara and in full colour at the jago and the reception.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia covers Sikh and Punjabi weddings across Hayes, Yeading, Harrow, Wembley, Uxbridge and Edgware from his studio in Northwood Hills, established in 2001. Yeading is 4.8 miles from the studio and Hayes 6.5. He covers the maiyan, jago, baraat, milni, the four laavan of the anand karaj, the doli and the reception. Sikh wedding photography starts from £750, with travel from Northwood set out in your written quote.

Hillingdon's south
At the 2011 census Sikhism was 14.1% of Yeading ward, alongside Islam at 18.3% and Hinduism at 11.8%. Yeading sits in the Hayes post town, and Hayes with Hayes End, Harlington and Yeading had 93,928 residents in 2021, with the Grand Union Canal running through the centre. These are 4.8 and 6.5 miles from the studio, so a morning at a gurdwara here is an easy start.
Hillingdon is a big borough, the second largest in London by area, so a Sikh wedding on this side can spread from a family home in Hayes to a reception towards Uxbridge or the Heathrow side. Tell us the gurdwara and the reception venue when you enquire, and Kaushik plans the order of the day around the journey between them.

In the gurdwara
Kaushik follows your gurdwara's own photography guidance throughout the anand karaj. What changes from one side of North West London to the other is the journey: a gurdwara in Yeading is about 4.8 miles from Joel Street and one in Hayes about 6.5, while a morning in Edgware means a 5.9-mile drive across Harrow. Send the time the kirtan starts and Kaushik works back from it, so he is in place before the couple walk around the Guru Granth Sahib for the first laav.
The milni at the door, when the two families meet and exchange garlands, happens before the anand karaj and is one of the liveliest photographs of the morning. Afterwards, where the gurdwara welcomes it, the langar is worth a few frames. On the Hayes side, the Grand Union Canal through the town centre gives a short couple portrait somewhere to go before everyone heads to the reception.
Before the day
The days before the anand karaj are loud and joyful. The maiyan and vatna, when turmeric paste is applied at home, the mehndi night, and the jago, with its lit pots and singing, each call for a different approach from the quiet of the gurdwara. Homes in Ruislip, Eastcote and Harrow are between 1.6 and 3.5 miles from the studio, and Kenton is 4.4.
Kaushik arrives early to see the room before the family fills it, and works with available light where possible. The jago can move outside into the street, so it helps to let neighbours know. Each evening is planned and quoted as its own day, and travel from Northwood is set out in writing before you book.

Doli and reception
The doli, when the family say goodbye as the couple leave, is often the most emotional moment of the day and happens outside the home or venue. Kaushik positions himself to see the faces of both families rather than just the car. After it comes the evening reception, which may bring bhangra and speeches, at a hall or hotel a few miles away.
Afterwards the doli car leaves and guests head to the reception. For a reception hall, see our Harrow banqueting hall guide or our Wembley hotel guide. For couples who want a civil ceremony as well, Hillingdon's ceremonies are at the Civic Centre in Uxbridge and Harrow's at The Pavilion on College Road.

Each town page adds local detail on the area's gurdwaras, halls, parking and portrait spots: Hayes, Harrow, Wembley, Uxbridge, Hillingdon and Edgware. The national Sikh weddings page walks through the whole anand karaj in order, from the milni to the doli, with notes on how each part is photographed.
For the bigger picture, Asian weddings in North West London covers multi-day planning and large guest lists, and our North West London wedding page covers the register offices and ceremony rooms in each borough, useful if you are planning a civil ceremony alongside the anand karaj or a reception at a hotel.

Planning
Ask your gurdwara in Hayes, Harrow or Wembley for its photography guidance before the day and send it to us, so positions are agreed with the granthi in advance.
The milni at the gurdwara door happens quickly. Tell us who is meeting whom, so the right relatives are in the frame when the garlands are exchanged.
The jago can spill into the street with lit pots and singing. On a quiet road in Ruislip or Kenton, a note to neighbours keeps the evening relaxed.
Choose where the car will wait for the doli, ideally with space for both families around it, rather than a narrow driveway.

Good to know
Yes. Both are close: Yeading lies 4.8 miles from Joel Street and Hayes 6.5. Kaushik covers the anand karaj at your gurdwara, following its photography rules, and agrees his positions with the granthi beforehand. Tell us the gurdwara when you enquire.
Send whatever guidance your gurdwara gives on photography during the kirtan, the laavan and the ardas, and Kaushik works within it. If you are marrying in Yeading or Hayes, also say whether the reception is towards Uxbridge or the Heathrow side, because Hillingdon is the second largest borough in London by area and that drive shapes the afternoon.
A Sikh wedding in North West London starts from £750. Packages are built around your day, depending on whether you want the maiyan, jago and reception covered too. Travel from Northwood is quoted up front in writing.
Yes. Each day is planned and quoted separately with its own timings and address. Homes from Ruislip to Kenton are within 4.4 miles of the studio, so an evening jago before a morning wedding is simple to arrange.
That depends on your gurdwara and your plans, so check with the gurdwara and your local register office. If you do hold one, Hillingdon's ceremonies are at the Civic Centre in Uxbridge and Harrow's at The Pavilion, and Kaushik can photograph both.
Yes. Wembley is 6.0 miles from the studio, and Kaushik follows the couple from the gurdwara to the reception, covering the entrance, speeches, cake and bhangra. Our Wembley hotel guide, linked above, covers one of the larger reception rooms there.
