Return the gown on time
Hired gowns usually go back on ceremony day, so book the portrait around the hire or arrange to keep the gown longer.
Graduation portraits for Brunel, Westminster's Harrow campus and college graduates, and for sixth-form leavers, on the day or at a calmer time at the studio or a local landmark.
The short answer
You can have graduation photos taken at the studio at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, or on location, for example near Brunel's campus in Uxbridge or at a landmark such as Swakeleys Park. Bring your cap, gown and hood, and family are welcome in the pictures. Studio sessions avoid weather and crowds. Prices are given on request, and travel to a location is set out in your written quote.
I had a photoshoot recently and it was such a great experience. Everyone was lovely and made us comfortable. The pictures looks great as well I am very pleased. I will definitely come back when the opportunity arises again,

Brunel in Uxbridge
Brunel University of London, which received its royal charter in 1966 and is named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, runs from a single campus on Kingston Lane in Uxbridge with more than 16,000 students. The campus was built from 1965 in a brutalist style, and its Grade II listed lecture centre was a filming location for Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Uxbridge also has a nursing campus of Buckinghamshire New University.
On ceremony day, campuses set their own rules for photography, so check what yours allows before booking a photographer on site. A separate session is often simpler: Uxbridge is about 4.9 miles from the studio, a short drive, so the portraits can happen the day before or a week later without the crowds. If you would like the pictures in Uxbridge, Kaushik comes to you, and travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book.

Other campuses
Northwick Park station on the Metropolitan line serves the University of Westminster's Harrow campus as well as Northwick Park Hospital. On the eastern edge of the area, Colindale is home to Barnet and Southgate College's Colindale campus, as well as the RAF Museum. Graduates from these campuses, or from universities further away with family living locally, can have the formal portrait taken close to home.
The studio on Joel Street is a short drive from Harrow and about seven miles from Colindale. For families in Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park it is close enough to walk, gown over the arm. A studio portrait also suits graduates whose ceremony was far away, or who could not have the whole family there on the day. See graduation photos in Harrow and Northwood.
On the day or later
Hired gowns usually have to go back on the day of the ceremony, so the portrait has to be planned around that. If you can keep your gown longer, or own it, a separate studio date is often calmer than the ceremony itself: no queue for the best spot, no weather, and time to arrange the hood properly before every frame. If relatives are travelling from further away, choose a date that suits them.
The session starts with the graduate alone in the classic formal portrait, then moves to more relaxed frames and the family groups. If the ceremony is at Brunel, the Grade II listed lecture centre on the Kingston Lane campus, built from 1965 in a brutalist style, makes a strong backdrop for a few frames after the formal portrait, where the university allows it. More on the format is on the graduation photos page.

Local landmarks
For an outdoor graduation portrait near Brunel, Swakeleys Park in Ickenham has a lake crossed by the River Pinn and overlooks the Jacobean Swakeleys House, and its Diamond Jubilee garden has benches set around a stone obelisk. In Uxbridge, the Grand Union Canal runs just west of the town, and the 1788 Market House on the High Street stands on around 50 Doric columns under a hexagonal clock tower.
Hillingdon Council requires permission for professional photographs in its parks and green spaces, including Swakeleys Park, so if you want a park setting there, allow time to apply through the Hillingdon Film Office before your date. In Pinner, the High Street of mainly 18th-century buildings leads up to the parish church of St John the Baptist, a setting that gives a graduation portrait a sense of place. For other portrait settings see portrait photography in North West London.
School leavers
Graduation portraits are not only for university. Harrow on the Hill alone is home to three schools, Harrow, St Dominic's and John Lyon, and each summer the area's sixth forms send students on to university, apprenticeships and work. A leavers' portrait in uniform, or in the outfit for the leavers' dinner, marks the end of school in the same way a gown marks the end of a degree.
Photography has a long history on the hill: the Hills & Saunders studio photographed the schools, families and local area there in the 1860s, and its archive of about 80,000 glass plates survives. Today the studio in Northwood Hills is about 3.8 miles from Harrow on the Hill, and leavers' sessions can include parents, grandparents and siblings. For the wider area, see the North West London photographer page and the portrait page.

Planning
Hired gowns usually go back on ceremony day, so book the portrait around the hire or arrange to keep the gown longer.
Brunel and other campuses set their own rules for photography on ceremony day, so confirm what is allowed before booking on site.
Swakeleys Park is a Hillingdon green space, so a graduation portrait there needs Film Office permission first.
After a Brunel ceremony, the 1788 Market House on Uxbridge High Street, with its row of Doric columns, is in the town centre, a short drive from Kingston Lane, for the family groups.
A sixth-form leaver's portrait in school uniform or a leavers' dinner outfit can be taken at the studio, with the family joining for the groups.
These are the landmarks and outdoor settings in North West London that suit a graduation portrait, with a source for each.
