Return the gown
Gown hire usually goes back on the ceremony day, so book the portraits for that day unless the gown is your own.
Cap and gown portraits on your ceremony day, or later at a West London landmark with the family who helped you get there. Kaushik Bathia comes to you from Northwood, about 7.7 miles to Ealing and 11.3 to Kensington.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik photographs graduates on the ceremony day or on a separate date, at a West London landmark such as Walpole Park and Pitzhanger Manor, Holland Park or the gardens at Chiswick House. Sessions cover the graduate alone, formal and relaxed, then with family. Hired gowns usually go back on the ceremony day, so the session is planned around that. Travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing ahead of booking.
I had an amazing experience with Kaushik Bathia. They were professional, friendly, and made me feel completely comfortable during the shoot. The photos came out beautifully — natural, vibrant, and exactly what I hoped for. Highly recommend
An amazing experience from start to finish. The photographer was professional, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease. The photos perfectly captured genuine moments between us and turned out even better than we expected. Highly recommend for couples looking for high-quality photography.
I went the studio for the photoshoot and Mr Batia is proffessional, courteous ,efficient and cheerful. I love my photos and will come again. Highly recommend.
Timing
Gown hire is usually returned on the day of the ceremony, and that shapes everything. If the gown goes back that evening, the portraits happen on the day, before or after the ceremony, with the family already dressed and together. If you own the gown or can keep it longer, a separate date is calmer: no crowds, no queue for the official photographer and time to try more than one location.
Tell us the ceremony date, where it takes place and when the gown has to be returned, and the session is planned around those three things. For a graduate whose relatives are travelling in, a weekend date close to the ceremony can catch everyone before they head home again.

Ealing
Ealing gives a graduate a formal setting close to home. Walpole Park, a 28-acre Grade II park, has a Serpentine Lake, a bridge and the frontage of Pitzhanger Manor, Sir John Soane's country house. Christ the Saviour on Ealing Broadway, a Grade II* Gothic Revival church by George Gilbert Scott, gives a stone backdrop that suits a gown and hood, about 7.7 miles from Northwood.
For a family group, the lawns in Walpole Park leave space for parents, grandparents and siblings in one frame, while the bridge suits a pair or the graduate alone. The park is close to Ealing Broadway station on the Central, District and Elizabeth lines, which helps relatives arriving without a car.
Kensington and Chiswick
In Kensington, the Natural History Museum on Cromwell Road, designed by Alfred Waterhouse in a Romanesque style clad in terracotta, gives a grand public backdrop, photographed from the street. Holland Park, 54 acres around the surviving wing of the 17th-century Holland House, adds woodland, formal gardens and the Kyoto Garden for quieter frames. Kensington and Chelsea is about 11.3 miles from Northwood, the farthest part of West London from us.
Chiswick House is a Grade I neo-Palladian villa completed in 1729, in grounds of about 65 acres, with gardens free to enter and open daily from 7am until dusk. An early start gives the graduate the villa and the conservatory with fewer people around. Chiswick is about 9.9 miles away, and travel is set out in your written quote.

Near home
Not every graduate wants a grand backdrop; some want a picture at home or in the park they grew up near. Northala Fields in Northolt, about 4.2 miles from Northwood, gives open sky from the top of its mounds; Lampton Park in Hounslow has a formal garden, a pond and a wildflower meadow; and the Manor House grounds in Southall have yews and an old mulberry said to have been planted by Henry VIII.
A session at home suits a family that wants grandparents included without travel, or a celebration meal afterwards. Kaushik photographs the graduate in the gown in the garden or living room, then the family groups, and can stay for the first part of the gathering if you want it covered. Ask for that when you book.
Leavers and how it runs
A leaving portrait is not just for university graduates. School and sixth-form leavers mark the end of their studies too, with a prom outfit, a school blazer or a simple portrait before the next step. The session starts with the leaver alone, formal and then relaxed, and moves on to family groups. For a leaver in Hounslow, Lampton Park's flower beds and pond are close to home for a few frames with the family afterwards.
If the weather is poor, a session at the Northwood studio gives controlled light with no crowds. Read graduation photos for how sessions run, and the West London portrait page for individual sittings. Portrait pages for Ealing, Kensington and Chelsea and Hounslow cover those towns, and the West London photographer hub lists every service. Graduation prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp.

Planning
Gown hire usually goes back on the ceremony day, so book the portraits for that day unless the gown is your own.
The Serpentine Lake and the bridge, with Pitzhanger Manor behind, give a ceremony-day family group a setting without leaving Ealing.
The gardens open daily from 7am until dusk, so an early graduation session among the villa and conservatory is possible.
Near Heathrow, Hillingdon Council asks for permission before professional photos in its green spaces, even for personal use.
Parents, grandparents and siblings join after the solo portraits, formal first and then relaxed.

Good to know
Yes, from the public pavement on Cromwell Road, where the terracotta Romanesque frontage makes a striking background. The front can be busy with visitors, so an early weekday start gives a cleaner frame. The museum is about 11.3 miles from Northwood, with the travel shown in your written quote.
Yes. Sessions cover the graduate alone and then with family, formal and relaxed. Walpole Park's lawns leave room for a larger group, and the bridge over the Serpentine Lake suits smaller groupings. Tell us how many are coming so the order of groups is planned before the day.
Yes. A leaver's portrait can be taken at home, in a local park such as Lampton Park in Hounslow or Ravenor Park in Greenford, or at a landmark that means something to the family. Bring the outfit for the occasion, whether that is a blazer, a prom dress or a suit.
Book as soon as you know the ceremony date, since gown hire is usually returned the same day. If the gown is your own, a later date in one of West London's parks can be chosen for better weather or softer light, without the crowds of the ceremony day.
Ask for graduation prices by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383. Travel from Northwood to your chosen location is part of the quote and set out in writing before you book, from about 6.5 miles to Southall to about 11.3 to Kensington.
Holland Park's woodland, formal gardens and the Kyoto Garden, created for the Japan Festival in London in 1992, all give quiet settings for a graduate in a gown. If the family dog is coming, note that dogs are banned from the Kyoto Garden and must be on leads in the formal gardens and woodland.
Yes. Dukes Meadows in Chiswick has a terraced riverside promenade with balustrades and a bandstand, and Furnivall Gardens in Hammersmith sits beside the Thames near Hammersmith Bridge, which reopened to pedestrians in April 2025. Check the wind as well as the rain, because a gown and hood move a lot by the water.
