Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.

Shiv S., Google review, 2016

Would 100% recommend Kaushik Bathia Photography! Kaushik and his team photographed all my wedding functions and I couldn't be happier with the results. He listened to us, got to know our family and close one's and captured all the special moments. We had a great mixture of romantic portraits and natural candid photos of the ceremony. Thank you so much for the most beautiful, treasured wedding photos!

Where the communities are

Southall, Brent and Hounslow: three Asian centres of West London

With ten gurdwaras, Southall holds London's largest Sikh community. At the 2021 census Sikhs made up 28.5 per cent of the town and Muslims 24.1 per cent. The Broadway, part of the Uxbridge Road, is one of the largest South Asian shopping areas, and Southall Market, opposite North Road, sells food, Asian and European clothing and electronics, with Saturday its busiest day. It is 6.5 miles from Northwood, one of the closest towns on this page.

In Brent, India was the most common country of birth among residents born abroad at the 2021 census, and the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden has stood since 1995 as Europe's first traditional Hindu stone temple. Ealing Road in Wembley remains an important centre for South Asian jewellery and gold, drawing customers from as far as Leicester, which makes it a familiar stop in the months before a wedding.

Hounslow, 9.5 miles from Northwood, is the most diverse town in its borough, with a large British Asian and Somali community, and Kilburn has large Indian and Bangladeshi communities alongside its Irish and Afro-Caribbean ones. Between them, these towns give a West London Asian wedding a choice of homes, halls and places of worship within a few miles of each other.

Several days, several places

Planning mehndi, sangeet and wedding day across three boroughs

An Asian wedding in West London can easily cover three boroughs in four days: a mehndi at home in Northolt, a sangeet at a hall in Southall, the religious ceremony at a gurdwara, mandir or mosque, and a reception near the A40 or close to Heathrow. Kaushik plans the coverage day by day with you, so each event has its own start time, address and list of must-have photographs before the week begins.

Distances here are short on a map and slower on the road. Journeys between Southall, Ealing and Wembley often use the A40 Western Avenue or the A406 North Circular, which meet at the Hanger Lane gyratory, so leave more time than the map suggests, especially for a baraat that has to arrive on cue. Travel from Northwood to each event is set out in your written quote, day by day, before you book.

Wedding photography starts from £750. Packages are built around your day and your number of events, and a second photographer can cover the other family's preparations at the same time on a morning with two homes, so neither side's getting-ready is missed. Tell Kaushik which moments matter most to each family, and the plan for that morning reflects it.

The legal ceremony

Registering the marriage alongside the religious ceremony

You can hold the legal ceremony on its own day or fit it into the wedding week. In Ealing, a statutory ceremony with two witnesses takes place in room N5A at Perceval House, while the Small Hall at The Brentham Club holds up to 30 guests. Brent's ceremony suite at Brent Civic Centre holds up to 100, enough for both families to attend together, and Hounslow's Garden Room at Feltham Lodge holds up to 30.

If your religious ceremony and reception are at a licensed venue in Ealing, the council keeps the list of approved premises, and our Perivale banqueting guide has detail on one of them. In Hounslow, couples marrying anywhere other than Feltham Lodge book the venue and the registrar separately, which matters if you want the civil and cultural parts on the same day.

Big guest lists

Hundreds of guests, family groups and relatives flying in

When the guest list runs to several hundred, the groups can become the photographs you treasure most. Agree the group list before the day and fix a time for it on the schedule, ideally straight after the ceremony while both families are still in one room. A printed list with names in the order you want them saves time and keeps the stage clear for the next ritual.

Relatives flying in have Heathrow almost on the doorstep. The airport handled 83.9 million passengers in 2024 and is served by the Elizabeth line, the Piccadilly line and the Heathrow Express, and Ealing Council's planning framework puts Southall about 10 minutes from Heathrow on the Elizabeth line. That makes it straightforward to fit arrivals around the mehndi and sangeet evenings.

For the reception itself, a second photographer covers the stage and the dance floor together while Kaushik stays with the couple, and a hand-finished album brings the whole week into one book. Both can be added to your package when you enquire. Mention the size of the reception room too, so the plan for the evening fits the space and the stage.

Portraits

Couple portraits near Southall: canal, viaduct and parkland

Southall has its own settings for portraits between events. Three Bridges on Windmill Lane, designed by Brunel in 1856, stacks a road, the Grand Union Canal and a railway at three levels, and Three Bridges Park beside it has a wildflower meadow and fruit trees. The grounds of Southall Manor House, a Grade II* listed Tudor-style house dating from at least 1587, have yew trees and an old mulberry said to have been planted by Henry VIII.

Osterley Park, south-east of Southall on the Ealing and Hounslow border, has a Grade II* listed park and a house remodelled by Robert Adam, run by the National Trust. Closer to the A40, the Art Deco front of the Hoover Building on Western Avenue suits wedding reds and golds, and Horsenden Hill rises to 85 metres between Perivale, Sudbury and Greenford for a view over the area.

Asian wedding pages for Southall, Hounslow, Brent and Greenford

Each town has its own Asian wedding page: Southall, Hounslow, Brent, Greenford, Northolt, Ealing, Acton and Feltham. They cover local stations, register offices and portrait spots town by town. Start with the town where your family lives or where the main ceremony takes place, since each page is written around that town's own roads, parks and ceremony rooms.

For the rituals themselves, read the West London pages for Hindu, Sikh and Muslim weddings, the national Asian wedding photography page, and our Asian wedding timeline for putting the events in order. The West London wedding guide compares the register offices in more depth, and every distance on these pages is measured from Northwood.

Planning

Planning around West London

01

Saturday in Southall

Southall Market on Uxbridge Road is busiest on Saturdays. If a baraat or a photo stop passes along the Broadway that day, allow extra time for traffic.

02

Jewellery from Ealing Road

If the wedding jewellery is coming from Ealing Road in Wembley, have it at the preparations early so the detail photographs fit in calmly before the rush.

03

Arrivals via Heathrow

With Heathrow on the Elizabeth line, plan overseas relatives' arrival days around the mehndi and sangeet rather than the morning of the main ceremony.

04

Write the group list

With several hundred guests, write the family group list before the day and agree when it happens on the schedule, so no grandparent is missed.

05

Ask your place of worship

Ask your gurdwara, mandir or mosque for its photography guidance in advance, and Kaushik plans the ceremony coverage around what it says.
