Luton is closest
Luton, about 20 miles from Northwood, is the nearest Bedfordshire town and the county's main centre for Asian weddings, which keeps travel simple for events held there.

I hired Kaushik for our wedding and I’m extremely glad I did!! Kaushik took amazing pictures and the quality of the pictures were amazing. Kaushik was very patient and was very helpful since the start. My family including our guest were constantly asking me who the photographer was as he gave the best service.
We hired Kaushik for our wedding. He was a fantastic photographer, very professional and great to work with. Kaushik was very flexible with timings, he was patient, and produced amazing photos! My family were also very happy with Kaushik and the photos.
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
The county
Luton is the centre of Asian wedding life in Bedfordshire and the closest part of the county to our studio, at about 20 miles. At the 2021 census the borough had 225,262 residents. Its largest Asian groups were Pakistani, with 41,143 residents or 18.3% of the town, and Bangladeshi, with 20,630. A Luton wedding season can therefore include a nikah and a walima, alongside Hindu, Sikh and Gujarati celebrations across the wider county.
Luton also has the space that big celebrations need. At least one large independent venue in the town advertises Asian weddings, with a main suite that divides into separate rooms for different events on the same day. Beyond Luton, an Asian wedding can be held anywhere in Bedfordshire, from a hotel in Dunstable to a country house near Ampthill or the riverside in Bedford, and Kaushik covers each of them.
Whether you search for an Asian wedding photographer, an Indian wedding photographer or a photographer for a Hindu, Sikh or Muslim wedding in Bedfordshire, the approach is the same. Kaushik plans the coverage around your rituals, your families and the places each event happens, then gives you a single written quote for all of it.

Multi-day
Most Asian weddings run over several days, and in Bedfordshire those days can be spread across different towns. A mehndi or haldi at the family home in Houghton Regis, a sangeet in a hall in Luton, a ceremony in the morning and a reception that evening somewhere else: each has its own start time, its own lighting and its own list of people who must be photographed.
We plan this with you event by event. For each day we note the address, the timings and the moments that matter most to your family, such as the arrival of the baraat, the pheras, the laavan or the signing of the nikah. That plan becomes the basis of your quote, and the travel between Northwood and each Bedfordshire address is set out in writing in the same document.
If the two families live in different parts of the county, for example one in Luton and one in Bedford, a second photographer can cover the other family's preparations at the same time, so both homes are photographed on the morning without anyone rushing. That option is listed separately so you can decide whether it is worth it for your day.
Ceremonies
For a Sikh wedding, the anand karaj usually takes place at the gurdwara in the morning, followed by a reception at a hall or hotel. Gurdwaras have their own rules on head coverings, shoes and where photographers may stand, and Kaushik follows them. Our Sikh wedding photography page explains how the laavan and the milni are covered.
Hindu and Gujarati weddings may take place at a temple, but many are held in a hotel or banqueting suite with a mandap set up inside, so that the ceremony and reception share one building. That keeps elderly relatives in one place, and it gives the photographer control over light around the mandap. See Hindu wedding photography for the order of the rituals we photograph.
A Muslim wedding in Luton commonly has two parts: a nikah, held at a mosque, at home or at the venue, and a walima on a later day for a much larger guest list. Some families also plan a mehndi evening before the nikah. Each has its own etiquette, which we follow. Read Muslim wedding photography for more.

Big guest lists
Big guest lists bring practical questions. Relatives flying in can use Luton Airport Parkway station, which has step-free access to all platforms and serves London Luton Airport, and Thameslink trains from Luton station run north to Bedford and south through London. Dunstable has no railway station of its own, so guests heading there usually come by road or on the guided busway from Luton. Put these details in your invitations.
For the photographs, large weddings need a clear plan for family groups. We ask you for a list before the day, grouped by side of the family, and work through it at a fixed point in the timeline with a relative who knows everyone. With several hundred guests, that list saves the most time of anything you prepare.
At any large venue the car park can fill quickly, so allow for the couple's car and the baraat procession to arrive without being blocked. Talk to the venue about where the dhol and the procession will start, and we will position ourselves to photograph the arrival from the front.
Legal ceremony
You can complete the legal marriage separately from the religious ceremony, a few days or weeks before. In Luton, the register office's Georgian Room takes up to 20 guests and allows photography, while the Thursday 10am ceremonies for the couple and two witnesses are held in a room where photography is not permitted. In central Bedfordshire, The Court House in Ampthill seats 58 in the Ampthill Room on Fridays to Sundays. Bedford's Old Town Hall takes up to 80 people, photographers included.
A register office ceremony is a good time for portraits without the pressure of the big day. A short session in Wardown Park in Luton or the Ampthill Gardens behind The Court House gives you photographs of the two of you before the larger celebrations begin. Ask for it as part of your package.

Planning
Luton, about 20 miles from Northwood, is the nearest Bedfordshire town and the county's main centre for Asian weddings, which keeps travel simple for events held there.
Ask for one written quote that lists every event, from the mehndi to the walima or reception, along with the travel to each Bedfordshire address.
Luton Airport Parkway is step-free and serves London Luton Airport, which helps overseas relatives and elderly guests reach a Bedfordshire wedding.
With hundreds of guests, prepare a group list by side of the family and name a relative to gather people. It saves the most time on the day.
If the legal marriage is at a register office in Luton, Ampthill or Bedford, add a short portrait session that day while the pressure is low.
