Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.

…Kaushik has an incredible eye for detail and an exceptional talent for capturing those fleeting, candid moments that made our wedding so unique. The photos are absolutely stunning—full of emotion, vibrancy, and creativity. He didn’t just take photographs; he told the story of our wedding day in the most heartfelt and artistic way possible.

Reachable each day

Why a multi-day wedding in Northamptonshire is easier than it looks

Distance comes first, so here are the numbers. Northampton is about 49 miles from our Northwood studio, Wellingborough about 50, and Kettering about 57. That is close enough for Kaushik to return home between events, which keeps costs down on a wedding that runs over four or five days. A mehndi on Thursday evening and a reception on Saturday can each be a separate trip.

Where a stay does make sense is the main wedding day if it starts at dawn, or two events that finish late one night and start early the next. In those cases we will suggest it and show the cost in the written quote. Travel from Northwood is quoted up front for every day you book, so you can decide event by event what to cover.

You can choose full coverage for the ceremony and reception and shorter visits for the haldi or mehndi. We are happy to plan it that way, and we will tell you where a gap in coverage might mean missing something important.

Big rooms

Halls and suites that take a large guest list

An Asian wedding in Northamptonshire often outgrows the register office rooms and many country house venues. The North Northamptonshire approved venue list includes hotel suites for 150 to 180 and stately home rooms for up to 200. Around Kettering, the list also includes ballrooms sized for very large receptions, and at least one venue says it runs Asian weddings through a partner events company. Ask each venue directly what it supports for catering, fire ceremonies and late finishes.

For receptions of several hundred in a Kettering or Northampton suite, the stage photographs need a plan. Agree with us which relatives join which picture before the night, and keep the first groups to the elders who may leave early. Entrances and first dances happen once; we agree in advance where Kaushik will stand so he is in the right place.

A second photographer is an optional extra that suits larger receptions, freeing one camera to stay on stage while the other covers guests and family tables.

Ceremonies

Hindu, Sikh and Muslim ceremonies across the county

A Hindu or Gujarati wedding in Northamptonshire may begin with a haldi at the family home, followed by the ceremony under the mandap and the pheras around the fire. Mandaps are often set up in halls or hotel suites, which means artificial light and a crowd close to the couple. We position for the key moments, the garland exchange, the pheras and the sindoor, and work around relatives rather than through them. Read more on our Hindu weddings page.

For a Sikh wedding, the morning is at the gurdwara for the anand karaj. Heads are covered and shoes removed, and during the laavan the photographer keeps to the side and avoids walking in front of the Guru Granth Sahib. The milni beforehand and the doli at the end are often the liveliest frames of the day. Our Sikh weddings page has more detail.

Muslim weddings bring the nikah, at home or at a mosque, a mehndi before it and the walima after. Coverage is respectful and modest, and we keep quiet during prayers. We agree beforehand with the family exactly what to photograph. See our Muslim weddings page.

The civil part

Adding the legal ceremony in Northampton or Kettering

If your religious ceremony is not legally registered, you will need a civil one too, and in Northamptonshire that means one of two councils. In the west, ceremonies take place at Northampton's Guildhall on St Giles Street, in a room seating 35 with 11 more standing. In the north, Kettering's Old Mayors Parlour takes 42 and the Corby Cube's ceremony room takes 100.

Some families hold the civil ceremony a few days before the main wedding, with only close relatives present. That can be photographed as a short booking of its own. Others fold it into the wedding day at a licensed venue so the guests see it. Either way, the register office times are fixed, so we plan the rest of the day around them.

The Guildhall's Victorian Gothic front, designed by Edward William Godwin, gives a formal setting for the couple's first photographs as a married pair, before everyone heads to the reception.

Before the wedding

Pre-wedding shoots in Northampton's parks

An engagement or pre-wedding shoot is a good way to get used to the camera before a long wedding week. In Northampton, Abington Park offers lakes, flower displays and a bandstand. Becket's Park runs along the River Nene on Bedford Road and makes a calmer, greener option.

For something with history, the Delapre gardens off London Road open on to about 500 acres of parkland and Delapre Woods. A shoot in outfits for the mehndi or sangeet there can give you photographs for invitations or a welcome board.

Pre-wedding shoots are an optional extra in your bespoke package. We usually schedule them two to three months before the wedding, when the outfits are ready but the planning is not yet at its busiest.

Planning

Planning around Northamptonshire

01

Day trips are possible

At about 49 to 57 miles from Northwood, most events in the county can be covered as separate day trips, which keeps a long wedding week affordable.

02

Check the venue's limits

Large Asian weddings outgrow many rooms. Ask each venue about catering, fire ceremonies, music and finish times before signing.

03

Midland Main Line guests

Wellingborough and Kettering are on the Midland Main Line into St Pancras, so London relatives can come by train. Tell us their arrival time and we will plan the group photographs after it.

04

Corby Cube for 100

If the legal ceremony needs room for more family, the ceremony room in The Corby Cube takes 100, compared with 42 in Kettering's Old Mayors Parlour.

05

Separate civil day

If the legal ceremony is on another day, add it to the same booking. Northampton's Guildhall times are fixed, so the rest of the plan follows them.
