Speeches, cake and the first dance are the fixed points of the evening, and we plan around them while staying free for everything unscripted that happens in between. Between the gurdwara and the banqueting hall there is usually an hour of nothing, and we treat it as valuable rather than dead time, using it for the only portraits of the day.
