We are used to multi-venue days throughout Northamptonshire, moving smoothly between Far Cotton, Kingsthorpe and Wootton. We are as at ease with a quiet family langar as we are with a reception of several hundred guests.

We are calm and unhurried, gathering the whole story of the Anand Karaj without ever getting in the way. We make sure the families are in the story too, from the milni embraces to the blessings of the sangat. We photograph with warmth and respect, mindful of the meaning behind each shabad the ragis sing.

Northampton railway station stands on the site of the former castle, on the West Coast Main Line loop, with the M1 at junctions 15, 15a and 16. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Abington Park, a historic public park with a museum in the former manor house, with Delapre Abbey, a former Cluniac nunnery south of the town centre close by for a striking backdrop.

Sacred moments, captured with respect

Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding. The four laavan, each a hymn the couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib for, are the heart of the ceremony, and we capture them with reverence. We work discreetly at the back and the sides of the darbar sahib, so the Anand Karaj is never disturbed.

The kaleere tied to the bride's choora carry their own meaning, and we photograph the ritual with care. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol. We photograph the sehra bandi, when the groom's turban and sehra are tied, with all its ceremony.
