We are as at ease in a small community temple as in a five-hundred-cover banqueting suite, throughout Far Cotton, Kingsthorpe and Wootton and the rest of Northamptonshire. At a Muslim nikah we photograph the vows, the mehr and the joyful moment the couple are declared married.

Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own wedding. A female photographer is available for the getting-ready hours and any moments where the women of the family would prefer a woman behind the camera. We are a reassuring, familiar presence, so everyone relaxes and the day flows naturally.

Northampton railway station stands on the site of the former castle, on the West Coast Main Line loop, with the M1 at junctions 15, 15a and 16. When there is time for couple portraits, Abington Park, a historic public park with a museum in the former manor house is a favourite, and Delapre Abbey, a former Cluniac nunnery south of the town centre makes a memorable setting.

Sacred moments, captured with respect

The kanyadaan and the joining of hands at the mandap are photographed with quiet care. We work in the background of the priest, the granthi or the imam, reading their rhythm so the ceremony flows without a photographer in the way. The most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance with a quiet long lens.

For Muslim families the walima is a warm celebration in its own right, and we cover it in full. We capture the lively baraat as the groom arrives, with the dhol, the dancing and the milni. The haldi or pithi is turmeric, colour and mischief in equal measure, and it often gives us the warmest and most unguarded frames of the whole wedding.
