Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.

…Kaushik has an incredible eye for detail and an exceptional talent for capturing those fleeting, candid moments that made our wedding so unique. The photos are absolutely stunning—full of emotion, vibrancy, and creativity. He didn’t just take photographs; he told the story of our wedding day in the most heartfelt and artistic way possible.

Who is getting married here

Burton upon Trent and the South Asian families of eastern Staffordshire

At the 2021 census Burton upon Trent had 76,270 residents, and about 14.3 per cent of them were South Asian, with large Pakistani and Indian communities. A Burton wedding can start with a mehndi or dholki at a family home in the town before moving to a larger venue for the main day.

Burton is also on the A38, which bypasses the town and links it with Birmingham to the south-west and Derby to the north-east. If your relatives live along that road, the guest list can stretch across three counties. We plan around wherever the events are, not around county lines.

Room for everyone

Staffordshire estates that take several hundred guests

Big Asian weddings need space, and Staffordshire has a handful of country estates built for it. One estate near Stafford is hired exclusively for weddings of up to 600 people and describes itself as specialising in Asian weddings. Another estate near Lichfield takes from six to 650 guests on an exclusive-use basis.

Exclusive use helps the photography. The family can place the mandap or stage where it works best, the couple have rooms for getting ready on site, and there is space for large family groups on the lawns. Walk the grounds with us on a video call before the week, and we will suggest portrait spots that stay quiet while guests arrive.

Days, not a day

Scheduling a mehndi, ceremony and reception across Staffordshire

Tell us every event, with dates, times and postcodes: haldi, mehndi, sangeet, the ceremony, the walima or the reception. From there, Kaushik sets out a day-by-day plan. Events in Burton, Lichfield or Tamworth, at roughly 90 to 98 miles from Northwood, can sometimes be covered as long days. For Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, at about 110 and 123 miles, an overnight stay is usually sensible at this distance when events fall on consecutive days, and it is set out in your written quote.

Every night and every journey is a separate line in your written quote. If you decide to drop the sangeet or add a pre-wedding shoot, the quote is updated before you book. Payment terms sit in the same document.

Faith and etiquette

Hindu, Sikh and Muslim ceremonies, photographed respectfully

For a Hindu ceremony, we agree positions around the mandap with the priest so the jaimala, kanyadaan and pheras are covered without crowding the family. For an anand karaj, he follows the gurdwara's own customs, keeping to the edge of the darbar hall while the laavan are read. At a nikah, whether at home or in a mosque, he stays quiet during prayers and follows the imam's lead on where photography is welcome.

Each place of worship can set its own rules, so check with the committee before the day and we will follow their guidance, including any moments when the camera should be lowered. Our national pages explain each tradition in more depth: Hindu weddings, Sikh weddings and Muslim weddings.

The civil part

Registering the marriage in Staffordshire alongside the religious wedding

If your religious venue is not licensed for marriage, the legal ceremony takes place separately. Staffordshire's county register office at Judges Chambers in Stafford has a Drawing Room for 50, and Burton's library office by the Trent holds up to 50 including officiants and photographers. In Stoke-on-Trent, statutory ceremonies on Tuesdays are limited to the couple and two witnesses, with no children.

Some couples keep the civil ceremony small and quiet a week or two before the main celebration. We can photograph it as part of the full package or on its own, and portraits by the river in Burton or in Beacon Park in Lichfield make a calm contrast with the busier days to come.

Town pages

For local detail, read Asian weddings in Burton upon Trent, Muslim weddings in Burton, Sikh weddings in Stoke-on-Trent and Hindu weddings in Lichfield. Each page lists its distance from Northwood and the registration office nearest to it, which helps when you are comparing a venue in the south of the county with one near the Potteries.

For a civil, church or barn wedding, our Staffordshire wedding guide covers the county's registration offices, venue styles and portrait backdrops in detail, from Tamworth Castle Grounds to the gardens at Trentham. It also explains Stoke-on-Trent's Tuesday rule and why Lichfield's ceremony room numbers include the photographer.

Planning

Planning around Staffordshire

01

Give us every postcode

Burton, Stafford and Stoke sit far apart. Postcodes for each event let us plan the route and any overnight stay before quoting.

02

Book Stoke Town Hall early

Stoke Town Hall's restored ceremony room takes the couple and up to 60 guests, so it suits a civil ceremony with close family before the main celebration.

03

Mind Stoke's register rules

Stoke-on-Trent's Tuesday statutory ceremonies allow only the couple and two witnesses, and no children, so plan family photographs elsewhere.

04

Think about the A38

With relatives coming from Birmingham and Derby along the A38, a Burton venue sits halfway for a guest list spread across the Midlands.
