We stay with the priest through the ganesh puja and the grah shanti, photographing the mantras, the ghee, the flowers and the concentration on the faces of the family. The jaimala can be full of laughter as friends lift you both, and we photograph the whole exchange fast enough to hold the surprise and the joy as the garlands go on.
