Documenting Sikh weddings in Lichfield

Lichfield is a cathedral city in Staffordshire. We travel throughout Staffordshire for gurdwara ceremonies, and Burntwood, Rugeley and Tamworth are all familiar to us. From Lichfield we cover weddings right across Staffordshire, at gurdwaras, hotels, marquees and banqueting suites.

We arrive early for the gurdwara start, stay through the doli and keep pace with the reception. Our style is unobtrusive, so the darbar sahib stays a place of worship and never becomes a photoshoot. We take the time beforehand to understand your family's customs and the order of the maiyan, mehndi and jaggo.

Sikh families across Burntwood, Rugeley and Tamworth trust us with their weddings, and Lichfield, a cathedral city in Staffordshire, is a place we return to often. We also cover nearby Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. In and around Lichfield, we have photographed at venues such as Swinfen Hall Hotel, Netherstowe House and Coton House Farm.

Lichfield is a small cathedral city and the birthplace of the writer Samuel Johnson. Lichfield City and Lichfield Trent Valley stations serve the city, with the A38 and A5 close by. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Beacon Park and the adjoining Minster Pool and Museum Gardens, and Lichfield Cathedral, the only medieval English cathedral with three spires gives the day a strong sense of Lichfield.

What we offer

Sikh wedding coverage in Lichfield

01

The Langar

The vegetarian langar shared by the whole sangat after the Anand Karaj, photographed with warmth.

02

Heirloom Albums

Beautifully bound albums designed around your favourite images of the four laavan and the milni.

03

The Anand Karaj

From the milni and the kirtan to the four laavan before the Guru Granth Sahib, every part understood and captured.

Every tradition

Honouring every Sikh custom

The kirtan and shabads that fill the gurdwara are as much a part of the story as the laavan themselves. The four laavan, each a hymn the couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib for, are the heart of the ceremony, and we capture them with reverence. Before the ceremony the groom's sehra is tied, and we photograph the sehra bandi with a gentle eye.

We are glad to cover a single event or the whole multi-day celebration. From the first event to the last, we tell the full story of the celebration. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance, bhangra and giddha.

The whole celebration

Every ritual, across every day

Tell us which events matter most and we will build the coverage around them. The jaggo night brings an evening of music, dancing and candlelit pots before the wedding day itself.

On the wedding day, the milni, the Anand Karaj and the four laavan build to the doli and the reception. We keep the day flowing, moving smoothly between the ceremony, the langar, the family photos and the reception.

Why choose us

The right photographer for your Lichfield wedding

Couples choose us for our calm presence and our knowledge of every ritual, from the milni to the four laavan. Sikh families return to us, and recommend us, because we treat every laav and every ardaas as it deserves.

We are glad to discuss your gurdwara, your reception venue and the journey between them when you enquire. We cover the whole of the UK for Anand Karaj ceremonies, so distance never stands between us and your gurdwara.
