Serving Tamworth

Punjabi and Sikh weddings in Tamworth

Tamworth is a Staffordshire town with a historic castle. Wherever your events are held across Lichfield, Atherstone and Sutton Coldfield, we plan the timings and travel with care. We know the local gurdwaras and their early-morning timings well, and plan the day around them.

We understand the etiquette of the gurdwara and the vegetarian langar, and photograph within it with genuine respect. We photograph the small moments as carefully as the grand ones, the choora and kaleere as well as the four laavan. Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own Anand Karaj rather than posing for it.

Sikh families across Lichfield, Atherstone and Sutton Coldfield trust us with their weddings, and Tamworth, a Staffordshire town with a historic castle, is a place we return to often. We also cover nearby Lichfield and Stoke-on-Trent. We are at home at Tamworth-area venues such as The Castle Hotel and Drayton Manor Hotel.

Tamworth was once the capital of the Anglo Saxon kingdom of Mercia and grew around its historic castle. Tamworth railway station is an interchange between the West Coast Main Line and the Cross Country route, near the M42 and A5. For portraits away from the celebration, The Castle Grounds pleasure gardens beside the River Anker works beautifully, and Tamworth Castle, a Norman motte and bailey castle overlooking the town adds a real sense of place.

What we offer

Sikh wedding coverage in Tamworth

01

The Jaggo Night

The music, the dancing and the candlelit pots of the jaggo, captured with all their energy.

02

Couple Portraits

A handful of timeless portraits taken away from the darbar sahib, amid the celebration.

03

Multi-Day Celebrations

From the Akhand Path and maiyan to the doli, every day of the Sikh celebration covered.

Every tradition

From milni to the four laavan

The most sacred moments inside the gurdwara are captured with a quiet long lens, from a respectful distance. The kirtan and shabads that fill the gurdwara are as much a part of the story as the laavan themselves. From the milni to the final ardaas, the Anand Karaj tells its own story, and we follow it closely.

We photograph the sehra bandi, when the groom's turban and sehra are tied, with all its ceremony. From the turmeric of the maiyan to the music of the jaggo, the events set the tone for the wedding. The mehndi, the jaggo and the maiyan each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all.

The whole celebration

Every ritual, across every day

The turmeric of the maiyan and the henna of the mehndi are rich with colour, and we make the most of it. The jaggo night brings an evening of music, dancing and candlelit pots before the wedding day itself.

We document the grand moments and the quiet ones in between, so nothing is lost. We keep the day flowing, moving smoothly between the ceremony, the langar, the family photos and the reception.

Why choose us

A safe pair of hands in Tamworth

We understand how much the four laavan mean, and we photograph the ceremony with the care it deserves. A thousand weddings in, we still find every Anand Karaj unique, and photograph it that way.

We are used to Sikh celebrations spread across several venues, and keep the day flowing from the milni to the langar. We are London-based and travel across Staffordshire and the wider region for the Anand Karaj and every event around it.
