From a mehndi night in Glasgow to a reception in Aberdeen, Kaushik Bathia photographs Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Indian weddings across Scotland. Each day is planned on its own, and the travel and any hotel nights are written into your quote.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs Asian weddings in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen, including mehndi, sangeet, haldi, nikah, walima, anand karaj, pheras and the reception. He travels from Northwood, between about 321 and 389 miles, so an overnight stay is usually sensible at this distance and is set out in your written quote. Packages start from £750, and the travel for every day is listed in writing before you book.
Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.
Kaushik photographed out wedding on september last year. He was so professional and was great with everyone making them laugh before taking all the snaps. We really couldn't have asked for more he worked hard all day to get the best pictures. We are very pleased with all the pictures and love the photo album. We will differently be using you again in the future Thank you!
A brilliant photographer who also provides a great service - a true professional! Highly recommended for sure...
A celebration over several days
An Asian wedding in Scotland might start with a mehndi or sangeet at home, move to a religious ceremony the next morning and end with a reception that evening or the following day. Because Kaushik is travelling several hundred miles to be there, we plan the whole programme at once, so the days and any nights in between are worked out together rather than as separate trips.
Send us each event with its date, start time and address. We then write a quote that lists the coverage for every day, the travel from Northwood and each night of accommodation, so you can see what a two-day or four-day celebration involves and decide which events need full coverage and which need an hour or two.
If family are coming up from England, the timings matter for them too. A Friday mehndi followed by a Saturday ceremony gives guests one long journey rather than two.

Making it legal
Scotland works differently from England here. A religious ceremony conducted by an authorised celebrant is itself a legal marriage, so couples can marry legally in a religious ceremony with an authorised celebrant, or choose a civil one. Check with your celebrant and the registrar what applies to your ceremony, then tell us which one carries the legal signing so we plan for it.
If you choose a civil ceremony, the registrars' guidance is that it can take place in a registration office or at any place agreed with the registration authority, other than religious premises. That puts a hotel suite or a family home within reach, on the main day or a few days before.
The city rooms vary a lot in size. Glasgow's registrars have the Kelvin Room and the Clyde Room at 23 Montrose Street and suites in the City Chambers; Dundee's Hollins Room takes up to 58 guests; Aberdeen's Grant Room at Marischal College holds 50 at most. In Edinburgh, notice must be lodged at least 29 days before a civil ceremony, and the council advises six to eight weeks.
Glasgow and the community
Glasgow Life describes Glasgow Mela as Scotland's biggest South Asian festival, and it was held in Kelvingrove Park on Sunday 5 July 2026. For couples, that same park is one of the most useful places in the city for portraits between events, with the River Kelvin, the art gallery and museum, and tree-lined paths laid out in 1852.
The Kelvin walkway leads on to the Botanic Gardens and the Kibble Palace glasshouse, which keeps portraits going in rain, and Pollok Country Park to the south gives open parkland. George Square, overlooked by the City Chambers, suits a quick set of formal pictures in wedding outfits if your civil ceremony is held there.
For Glasgow-specific detail, read our Asian wedding photographer in Glasgow page, along with the Sikh, Hindu and Muslim wedding pages for the city.

Big guest lists
Families travelling from England change the shape of a Scottish reception. Glasgow Central is the northern end of the West Coast Main Line from London Euston, and the Caledonian Sleeper runs overnight between Euston and both Dundee and Aberdeen. Starting the group photographs once the trains are in, rather than straight after the ceremony, means grandparents and cousins from the south are not missed.
For a reception of a few hundred, we agree the family groups with you before the day and work through them at the stage in a fixed order, largest groups first. Tell us where the stage and the entrance doors are, and when the speeches fall, so Kaushik can be in place before the couple walks in.
An optional second photographer can cover the other family's preparations at the same time, and gives a second view of the entrance on a long evening.
Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen
Edinburgh's registrars will hold a civil ceremony at a venue of the couple's choice within the city, and the City Chambers rooms take up to 36 or up to 110 guests. Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill and Dean Village give three very different backdrops for portraits in bridal outfits. See our Edinburgh Asian wedding page for more.
Dundee's waterfront, with V&A Dundee and the Tay Rail Bridge, gives a modern setting, while Camperdown Country Park covers 400 acres. Aberdeen's granite streets, Duthie Park and Hazlehead Park, with Scotland's oldest maze, are close to the city centre. The Dundee and Aberdeen pages cover each city.
Whichever city you choose, the same rule holds: travel from Northwood and any nights away are quoted in writing before you book, and each day of the celebration is costed on its own.

Traditions
For a Hindu wedding, the jaimala, the kanyadaan and the pheras are the moments to plan positions for. The couple circles the sacred fire during the pheras, and at many Gujarati weddings the saptapadi, the seven steps, then follows as a rite of its own. Our Hindu weddings page explains how those rituals are covered. For a Sikh anand karaj, the laavan are photographed quietly from positions agreed with the gurdwara, as set out on our Sikh weddings page.
A nikah is often small and intimate, followed by a walima and sometimes a mehndi. Coverage stays respectful and modest, and the camera goes quiet during prayers. Our Muslim weddings page goes into the detail, and the main Asian weddings page covers packages across all traditions.
Planning
List each event with its date, time and address. The quote is built around the whole Scottish programme, with any nights in between set out in writing, rather than one day at a time.
In Scotland an authorised celebrant can make the religious ceremony legal, or you can choose a civil one. Tell us which, so the signing is planned.
Guests on the West Coast Main Line into Glasgow Central, or the Caledonian Sleeper into Dundee or Aberdeen, may arrive late. Start family groups once they are in.
For a civil ceremony in Edinburgh, notice goes in at least 29 days ahead and the council suggests six to eight weeks. From England, allow longer.
Glasgow Central links to London Euston on the West Coast Main Line, and the Caledonian Sleeper serves Dundee and Aberdeen.

Good to know
Yes. Kaushik photographs the milni, the anand karaj and the reception. Send the gurdwara's guidance on photography when you enquire, and we plan where to stand for the laavan so the sangat's view stays clear.
Each day is priced on its own according to the hours and the events, with packages from £750. The travel from Northwood and any nights of accommodation are added as their own lines, and everything is set out in a written quote before you book.
In Scotland a religious ceremony conducted by an authorised celebrant is a legal marriage in its own right, so a separate civil ceremony is a choice rather than a requirement. Confirm the details with your celebrant and the registrar, and tell us where the signing will happen.
Yes. Home events such as the mehndi, haldi or maiyan are often where the most relaxed family pictures happen. Give us the address and timings, and we fit them into the same trip as the main day.
Yes. Kelvingrove Park, home to Glasgow Mela, has the River Kelvin, the art gallery and museum and paths laid out in 1852, and the Kelvin walkway leads to the Botanic Gardens and the Kibble Palace if it rains.
The City Chambers has two: the ground-floor Alexander Suite for up to 36 guests with the couple standing, and the seventh-floor Council Chamber, with its domed ceiling, for up to 110. Edinburgh's registrars can also come to a venue of your choice in the city.
For a large reception, it often helps. A second photographer can cover the other family's preparations at the same time and adds a second angle during the ceremony and the entrance. It is an optional extra shown separately in the quote.
