Stretch a wedding over two days, or three, and over as many buildings, and the interesting pictures stop being the ones on the schedule. They happen in the gaps: the changed outfit, the cousin asleep in a chair, the argument about timing that everybody laughs about later. Edinburgh lengthens those gaps, because Princes Street Gardens and Waverley sit in the valley between the Old Town and the New Town, and crossing it means changing level, in clothes never designed for steps. Build the walking into the plan and nobody arrives flustered.

Each rite carries its own practical demand. Garba fills a floor; the lens therefore goes wide and the position goes high. Mehndi is a long, dim, seated evening in which patience beats equipment. A baraat travels, and we meet it head-on rather than chase it from behind. Tell us which of them your family holds, and the kit gets planned around that, instead of hauling everything everywhere. Nobody photographs well from behind a pile of cases.
