The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. A relaxed portrait session is woven gently into the day, timed around the best light, so you get a short breather together and a few frames to keep forever. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Edinburgh. Having documented weddings across many cultures and styles, we arrive knowing the shape of a day and where its meaningful moments tend to gather. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across Scotland and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.
Serving Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland's historic capital, with elegant venues. We photograph weddings at churches, register offices, country houses, barns and hotels across Scotland, including Leith, Morningside and Portobello. In Edinburgh and beyond, we have photographed ceremonies of every kind, and that experience means we anticipate each moment rather than chase it.
For portraits we give a little gentle guidance, then step back and let you be yourselves, which is where the natural, easy frames tend to happen. Rather than directing every scene, we let your day breathe and photograph it as it happens, stepping in gently only when a group shot needs a little order. We shoot loosely and instinctively, following the energy of the room, so the collection you receive moves at the same pace the day actually did.
Photographing a wedding in Edinburgh always feels like familiar ground. Edinburgh is Scotland's historic capital, with elegant venues, and we cover the wider area, taking in Dundee, Aberdeen and the county around them. Venues we know well in and near Edinburgh include The Balmoral, Virgin Hotels Edinburgh and Cheval The Edinburgh Grand.
Edinburgh is Scotland's historic capital, with an Old Town and New Town divided by the green valley of Princes Street Gardens. Edinburgh Waverley is the city's main railway station and the busiest transport hub in Scotland. We often take couples to Princes Street Gardens, the largest city park in the centre, in the shadow of the castle, with Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat nearby for a few quiet portraits, and Edinburgh Castle, the fortress overlooking Princes Street Gardens is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer
Every wedding is different, so we shape hours, albums and extras around your plans rather than a fixed list.
Beyond the album we can produce framed prints and wall art, so your favourite images live on your walls.
We are there while you get ready, catching the small details and the calm before the day opens up.
Every kind of wedding
We understand that every ceremony has its own rhythm, so we read the room, keep our movement minimal and photograph the vows as they truly happen. A registry office wedding can be just as moving as any cathedral, and we bring the same attention to the small, tender details wherever your vows take place. However you choose to marry, we read the room first, learn where to stand and then document the exchange of vows as it truly unfolds.
Preparations, portraits, the meal and the party each get their share of our attention, and we pace ourselves so no part of the celebration is thinly covered. Group photographs need not feel like a chore, and we run them briskly and with good humour so you are soon back among your guests. Group shots need not be stiff, and we keep them relaxed and quick, gathering families in good humour so nobody stands about waiting in the sun.

The whole celebration
We can photograph both of you preparing in separate rooms, then bring the two halves of the morning together in one clear part of your gallery. If your celebration runs across more than one day, we can build coverage around that, from the pre-wedding events through to the main morning.
By staying with you from start to finish, we can show the day building, so the energy on the dance floor clearly comes from somewhere. We deliver a set that feels balanced, giving weight to the getting ready, the vows, the meal and the dancing so no chapter is left thin.
Why choose us
A second photographer is available whenever your day calls for it, giving broader coverage and a second perspective on the moments you cannot be in two places for. Five European Gold awards sit alongside a quarter of a century of experience, so you can trust both the craft and the steadiness we bring to your day.
We would rather arrive early and relaxed than cut it fine, so we set off in good time for weddings anywhere in Scotland and the counties beyond. From preparations at home to a reception miles away, we keep pace across Leith, Morningside and Portobello and the wider Scotland without missing a moment.

Where we travel
You should never have to think about how we get there; reaching venues throughout Scotland is something we quietly take care of. Getting to your venue is our responsibility, not yours, and we regularly cover weddings right across Scotland and beyond.

Good to know
Look for a full gallery from real weddings rather than a few standout shots, a style that feels natural to you, and someone you warm to when you meet. Experience matters most on the day itself, when timings slip and the light changes. We have photographed more than a thousand weddings since 2001, so very little takes us by surprise.
We design the first draft for you, choosing and sequencing images so the album flows as a story rather than a random set of photos. You then review the proof and request changes until it feels right. Nothing is printed until you have approved the final design, so you stay in control of the outcome.
We would love that. Meeting in person, or over a video call if that is easier, helps you get a feel for how we work and lets us hear all about your plans. There is no pressure at all; it is simply a friendly conversation so you can decide with real confidence.
Yes. Every couple receives their full set of edited high-resolution images through a private online gallery, with the freedom to print them for your own use. You can download them, order prints, and share the link with loved ones who could not be there. Your photographs are yours to enjoy for many years to come.
Yes, a second photographer is available and many couples add one. Having two of us means we can be with each of you during preparations, cover the ceremony from more than one angle and gather natural guest reactions. For larger or multi-day weddings a second shooter makes a real difference to how complete your gallery feels.
For most weddings within a reasonable distance, travel is included and there is nothing extra to think about. For venues much further afield, or where an overnight stay is sensible, we may add a small contribution towards costs, which we will always agree with you beforehand. There are never any hidden fees.
Most couples choose full-day coverage, an edited set of high-resolution images and a private online gallery. From there you can add a second photographer, an engagement shoot and a hand-finished album. We will walk you through the options and shape a package that fits your day rather than pushing a fixed list.
