A Sikh wedding gives us two jobs on one date. The first sits inside an institution's building where layout, seating and light predate you entirely, and you will alter none of it. The second sits in a room you picked and can shape however you like. Nearly all our planning goes on the join between them: departure time, who travels with you, and how many hours of the day vanish in between.
Venues within reach include voco Grand Central, House for an Art Lover, The Corinthian Club and Trades Hall of Glasgow. Guests may be crossing the city from districts such as Shawlands, Partick or Dennistoun. A room built for three hundred people after dark behaves differently at breakfast time, so a walk through it while it stands empty beats meeting it for the first time with everyone already inside.

Outdoors is where the milni usually lands, so in Glasgow the first plan you make is a weather plan, and the lighting one comes second. We stay seated to one side and use long glass, which lets the four laavan be covered without a single person standing up, and it keeps the aisle clear for the palla. One further limit governs the lot: the Guru Granth Sahib's height in the hall is the ceiling on ours.
