The laavan pass while the sangat stays seated, which limits movement between circuits, so each frame gets decided before it exists. A palla handed between families reads better low down, the cloth against floor rather than against shoulders. Non-negotiable geometry underlies all of it, since every sightline in the room bends towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Around the anand karaj sit events with entirely different demands. A milni outdoors is bright, noisy and finished in a few minutes, so extra eyes help there more than technique does. Langar is quiet and unposed, and photographs well precisely because nobody performs. Jago and mehndi run late into an evening lit domestically. Then the doli closes things, and being badly positioned there costs a picture nobody can restage.
