Why couples look here

Country house space within reach of Coventry and Birmingham

Several of Warwickshire's licensed country houses carry Coventry addresses, so the county's estates sit close to one of the Midlands' main cities. Some hotels on the county's licensed list offer packages that allow self-catered weddings, which matters if you want your own Asian caterer.

Warwickshire is also the nearest Midlands county to our Northwood studio, with Rugby about 64 miles away. For a guest list split between the Midlands and the south, that can make it a sensible meeting point: Rugby has West Coast Main Line trains to Euston and Birmingham New Street, and Warwick sits on the Chiltern line between Marylebone and Birmingham.

Large guest lists

Choosing a Warwickshire venue for a large Asian wedding

Warwickshire's licensed venues are mostly country houses and hotels rather than purpose-built banqueting halls, so capacity is the first question. Licensed spaces in Leamington reach a couple of hundred guests, manor house hotels near Nuneaton add marquees to their function suites, and some country houses on the Coventry side can be booked for exclusive use.

Before you commit, ask each venue three things: the true seated capacity with a stage and dance floor, whether outside caterers are allowed, and where a mandap or stage can go. The answers shape the photography as much as the décor does, because they decide where the light falls and how much room there is for family groups.

Several days

Mehndi at home, ceremony at the venue: a Warwickshire wedding week

A typical plan might begin with a mehndi or haldi at a family home, followed by a sangeet in a hired hall, then the ceremony and reception at a country house on the main day. In Warwickshire those events tend to be close together, so the travel between them is short. The longer journey is the one from Northwood, at roughly 64 to 78 miles each way.

For events on consecutive evenings, an overnight stay is sometimes sensible rather than driving home in between. Whether that makes sense depends on finishing times, and we talk it through before quoting. The travel and any overnight stays are set out in your written quote, event by event, so you can see what each day costs.

Ceremonies

Photographing the pheras, laavan and nikah with care

At a Hindu wedding, Kaushik agrees positions with the pandit before the pheras so the family can see and the important rituals are covered. For an anand karaj, he keeps to the side of the hall through the four laavan, following the gurdwara's customs. At a nikah, he keeps quiet during prayers and follows the family's and the imam's guidance on what to photograph.

If your ceremony is at a gurdwara, mandir or mosque, check its rules with the committee in advance, including where photography is allowed, and we will follow them. Our national pages on Hindu weddings, Sikh weddings and Muslim weddings explain how we cover each tradition from start to finish.

Making it legal

The civil ceremony at a Warwickshire ceremony room

Where the religious ceremony is not at a licensed venue, the marriage can be made legal at one of Warwickshire County Council's ceremony rooms. St John's House in Warwick has a wood-panelled room for 40 guests. Rugby's Bloxam Room and Nuneaton's Heritage Room in Riversley Park each seat 50. A small civil ceremony a few days before the main wedding is common and easy to photograph.

You can also book a pre-wedding shoot in the county. Leamington's Regency streets around the Parade and Lansdowne Circus, Jephson Gardens and the open view from Observation Hill in Newbold Comyn all suit traditional and western outfits. It is also a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before the main days.

Planning

Planning around Warwickshire

01

Ask about outside caterers

Some Warwickshire venues allow self-catered weddings. Confirm early if you want your own Asian caterer, since it affects which venues you can shortlist.

02

Measure the space

Country houses vary widely in size. Check seated capacity with a stage and dance floor, not just the headline figure, before you book.

03

Keep the civil ceremony small

Warwickshire's ceremony rooms seat 40 to 50, which suits the legal ceremony with close family a few days before the larger celebration.

04

Book a pre-wedding shoot

Leamington's Regency streets and Jephson Gardens suit both traditional and western outfits, and help you relax before the main days.

Good to know

Asian weddings in Warwickshire: questions answered

Yes. Warwick station is on the Chiltern Main Line between London Marylebone and Birmingham, and Leamington has Chiltern inter-city trains to Marylebone. Rugby is on the West Coast Main Line with frequent trains to Euston. Tell us when guest trains arrive, and the family photographs can be timed around them.

Some do, and a few hotels on the county's licensed list offer self-catered packages. Policies vary, so ask each venue directly before you shortlist it, and tell us the venue so we can plan the photography around its rooms and grounds.

We list each event with its hours, then add travel from Northwood and any overnight stays. Packages start from £750, and the quote shows every element separately, so you can see the cost of each day and adjust before booking.

Yes. You can marry legally at St John's House or the Judges' House in Warwick and hold the Hindu ceremony on another day. We can photograph both as part of one booking, with the travel for each day listed in the quote.

Often not. At 64 to 78 miles from Northwood, most single days work as a long day trip. For consecutive late events or very early starts, a hotel night may be sensible, and it is quoted in writing.

Rugby, about 64 miles from the studio, is the nearest town, close to where the M1, M6 and M45 meet. Leamington and Warwick are about 68 miles and Nuneaton about 78. A mehndi near Rugby and a ceremony near Warwick can be joined into one booking, with each day costed in the written quote.

Yes. A nikah at home is often small and personal. Kaushik keeps the coverage quiet and modest, follows the family's guidance, and pauses during prayers. Tell us the time and the address, and we will include it in the plan.
