A baraat sets the tone and burns the clock. Drums, dancing and a slow approach to the doors will eat twenty minutes nobody scheduled, and the varmala that follows lasts perhaps four seconds. We are already standing for that one in advance of it, since garlands go over shoulders once and nothing here is repeated for a camera. Earlier, at the haldi, turmeric on skin reads yellow-green under a kitchen bulb unless somebody corrects for it.

Indoors the agni changes every setting we hold. Smoke thickens the air between us and your parents, flame lifts warm light into faces that a window is cooling from the other side, and kanyadaan takes place low down, where anyone standing sees only backs. That one is photographed kneeling. Around the pheras our position rotates by a quarter each circuit; seven passes should leave you seven pictures, not a single frame delivered seven times.
