Most of the day we would work quietly from the edges, whether the ceremony is at Stockwood Discovery Centre, which takes civil ceremonies of up to 80 and opens its gardens and galleries for photographs, or in a church across town. Luton Register Office holds ceremonies for up to 20 guests in its Georgian Room, where photography is permitted, while its Thursday 10am ceremonies for the couple and two witnesses take place in a statutory room where it is not, so the Georgian Room is the one to book if you want pictures. A smaller civil ceremony could take place in the Drawing Room at Wardown House, which has a grand fireplace and views over Wardown Park and holds up to 40 guests, with the house and grounds open for photographs afterwards. Engagement shoots, a second photographer and fine art albums can all be added, and for an engagement session we would suggest Stockwood Park on London Road, with its tree-lined avenue and historic walled garden.
Bury Park, Leagrave and Caddington all feed into a wedding in this Bedfordshire town, and its temples, gurdwaras and mosques mean the ceremony itself may run for hours before anyone reaches the reception. Wardown Park, with formal gardens and lakeside paths between New Bedford Road and the River Lea, is the reliable outdoor stop, and Wardown House Museum and Gallery within it adds Victorian brickwork and the town's hat making heritage to the backdrop. Grand Royale and The Barn Tea Green sit at very different distances from the centre, and a baraat arriving late at any of them changes how much light is left. Thameslink services on the Midland Main Line bring guests into Luton station and the M1 brings the rest, which means two separate arrival flows to cover.
