Fast lenses, high ISO, and bodies chosen for how they behave when there is very little to work with. Flash goes nowhere near a ceremony. Where a room is genuinely dark we would sooner accept grain than take a photograph nobody wanted taken.

Do you photograph the haldi or pithi ceremony?+

Yes, and book it. Haldi is messy, informal and usually happens at home, which makes it the most relaxed hour of pictures in the entire week. Wear clothes you are happy to write off, and ignore us while it goes on.

Do you cover smaller Asian celebrations, not just large weddings?+

Yes. An engagement, a mehndi on its own, a naming, an anniversary dinner. Small events often make better photographs than big ones, because the room stays quiet enough that you can see what people are genuinely doing.
