We travel throughout Ealing, Chiswick and Shepherd's Bush for Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, at home in temples, gurdwaras, mosques and banqueting suites alike. For Sikh couples, the Anand Karaj and the four laavan in the gurdwara are the heart of the day, photographed with the calm the Guru Granth Sahib deserves.

For a Sikh anand karaj we keep our distance during the laavan, photographing the ragis and the family without a single interruption to the prayer. We work quietly through the sacred parts and lift the energy for the baraat, reading each moment as it comes rather than pulling you out of it for set-up shots. On the dance floor we shoot fast and close, catching the bhangra, the dhol and the uncles who never sit down, so the party reads as alive as it felt.

Acton Main Line is served by the Elizabeth line, and Acton Town is on the Piccadilly and District lines. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Gunnersbury Park, a large historic park with mansions and gardens on the edge of Acton, and Acton Town Hall, a Grade II listed civic building on the High Street gives the day a strong sense of Acton.

At a Sikh wedding the exchange of garlands and the palla placed in the couple's hands begin the Anand Karaj, and we follow from the very first hymn. We are mindful of every family's customs at the ceremony, and photograph them exactly as they happen. We photograph the seven steps of the saptapadi and the couple's first steps as a married pair.

From the first event to the last, we tell the full story of the celebration. The mehndi night, the sangeet and the haldi each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. The sangeet is an evening of music and rehearsed dance, and we capture all of its energy.
