What Chiswick House publishes on cost, and what it does not

Chiswick House and Gardens does not publish its base venue hire fee. What it does publish (2026-2027 brochure):

  • In-house catering by Create, from £157 per head.
  • An offer of up to £1,500 off venue hire for remaining 2026 dates, excluding Garden Studios, as published at retrieval (venue hire).

Hounslow registrar fees are separate from the venue fee and are published without an effective date: at approved premises, Monday to Thursday 9am to 4.30pm is £565, Friday £620, Saturday £670, and Sunday ceremonies £930; later weekday slots cost more. Notice of marriage is £46.50 per person (Hounslow fees).

Ceremonies in the villa or the Courtyards, and the Hounslow registrars

Two parts of the site are licensed for civil ceremonies. Chiswick House itself takes 90 for a ceremony, and both Courtyards, the Inner Courtyard and the House Forecourt, are licensed for outdoor ceremonies, with celebrant-led ceremonies and blessings also welcome (the Courtyards). Hounslow says ceremony times are usually 11.30am and 3.30pm, though earlier and later times can be accommodated, and charges a registrar fee on top of the venue fee (Hounslow approved premises).

The venue says it hosts South Asian weddings, but it does not publish whether Hindu, Sikh or Muslim religious ceremonies can be held on site, whether a mandap or a havan is allowed, whether specialist Asian or halal caterers may be used alongside Create, or its confetti policy. A 2023 venue article described a Conservatory ceremony space for 100, but the Conservatory is not in the 2026-2027 brochure. Ask about each of these in writing.

Chiswick's photography permits and what they mean on the day

Chiswick manages photography closely. Photography that includes wedding attire is reserved for couples who book their wedding at the venue, and all commercial photography and filming needs an approved permit, managed by FilmFixer (filming and photography).

The villa, the courtyards and 65 acres of garden: photograph planning

  • The drinks reception from 4:15pm is the natural time for portraits in the gardens; from November to January the light table shows the sun setting at around that time or earlier.
  • The Garden Pavilion has an ivory interior and chandelier lighting, with adjoining lawns, which suits evening photographs.
  • The House's upper floors are reached by steep spiral staircases with no lift, and there is no wheelchair access to the main floor: plan family groups on the ground floor or outside.
  • The gardens are open to the public daily from 7am until dusk and only occasionally close for private hire, so expect visitors in the background of daytime garden photographs.

Chiswick station, Turnham Green and the A4

Chiswick station is a 13-minute walk to the Burlington Lane Gate, and Turnham Green on the District line is about 20 minutes on foot; buses 190, E3 and 533 also serve the site (getting here). Garden paths are mostly level or gently undulating smooth gravel (access). We travel to Chiswick from our Northwood studio.

Parking at Chiswick House for a wedding

The public car park is off the westbound A4, signed with a brown tourist sign. It holds 60 cars including 3 disabled spaces, opens 8am to 6pm, takes PayByPhone only (location 803065) and has no free parking; it is a 5 to 10-minute walk to the House. Blue Badge holders can ask by email, in advance, for a space nearer the House. Because the car park hours end at 6pm, ask the events team how evening wedding guests should park.

Chiswick House and Gardens wedding photography, frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding at Chiswick House cost?

The venue does not publish its base hire fee. Its 2026-2027 brochure gives catering by the in-house caterer Create from £157 per head, and at retrieval the venue hire page offered up to £1,500 off venue hire for remaining 2026 dates. Hounslow registrar fees are separate and published without an effective date: £565 for a Monday to Thursday ceremony between 9am and 4.30pm, rising to £930 on a Sunday. Notice of marriage costs £46.50 per person. Ask the events team for a hire quote.

How many guests can Chiswick House hold for a wedding?

Chiswick House itself takes 90 for a ceremony, 90 for drinks and 80 for a seated dinner, according to the weddings page. The Courtyards are licensed for ceremonies of 90. The Garden Pavilion, a semi-permanent marquee, is the larger space, but the figures differ: its own page says 200 seated and 400 standing, while the brochure gives 220 for dinner and dance and 300 for drinks. Confirm the number for your layout with the venue before you finalise a guest list.

Does Chiswick House host Asian weddings?

The venue's weddings page says it hosts weddings from "larger-than-life South Asian weddings to intimate ceremonies". It does not publish the details that matter for a religious ceremony: whether a Hindu, Sikh or Muslim ceremony can be held on site, whether a mandap or a havan is allowed, or whether specialist Asian or halal caterers can be used alongside the in-house caterer Create, whose sample menu includes vegan dishes. Ask the events team about each of these in writing before you book.

Can I have my wedding photos taken at Chiswick House if I marry elsewhere?

No. Chiswick says photography that includes wedding attire is reserved for couples who book their wedding at the venue, and all commercial photography and filming needs a FilmFixer permit. Pre-wedding and engagement shoots are possible with a free Notice of No Objection, but only in the gardens, not inside the House, on the House stairs or in the Conservatory, with no wedding attire, at most five people including the photographer, and handheld equipment only, with no drones.

Where do wedding guests park at Chiswick House?

The public car park is off the westbound A4, with space for 60 cars including three disabled bays. It opens from 8am to 6pm, takes payment by PayByPhone only and has no free parking, and it is a 5 to 10-minute walk to the House. Accessible parking closer to the House can be booked in advance by email. Chiswick station is a 13-minute walk to the Burlington Lane Gate, and Turnham Green on the District line is about 20 minutes away.
