Chiswick Mall at spring tides
Parts of Chiswick Mall flood at high spring tides, so check the tide table before fixing a riverside portrait there.

Individual, personal-branding and milestone portraits at a West London landmark, by the Thames or in a park near you. Kaushik Bathia travels from Northwood, about 7.6 miles to Ealing and 11.3 to Kensington.
The short answer
Kaushik photographs portraits on location across West London: by Sir John Soane's Pitzhanger Manor in Walpole Park, among the Georgian houses of Chiswick Mall, on the conical hills of Northala Fields or beside Brunel's viaduct at Hanwell. The session covers posing and expression, with a natural retouch on every chosen frame. The travel from Northwood to your chosen spot is set out in your written quote before you book.
I went the studio for the photoshoot and Mr Batia is proffessional, courteous ,efficient and cheerful. I love my photos and will come again. Highly recommend.
I did a fabulous photoshoot with Kaushik and thoroughly enjoyed it! I was very nervous, but he made me feel at ease! I will hopefully return for another one at a later date!
An amazing experience from start to finish. The photographer was professional, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease. The photos perfectly captured genuine moments between us and turned out even better than we expected. Highly recommend for couples looking for high-quality photography.
Ealing
Walpole Park was once the grounds of Pitzhanger Manor, the country house Sir John Soane bought in 1800 and rebuilt over the next four years. Its picturesque layout came from John Haverfield, whom Soane engaged to redesign the grounds, and it keeps Regency-planted beds, a fishpond with fountains and a Serpentine Lake with a bridge. For a portrait, the bridge and water give depth without a busy background, and the manor's frontage suits a more formal standing frame.
The park covers 28 acres at the edge of central Ealing, a short walk from Ealing Broadway's Central, District and Elizabeth line station, so a sitter arriving by train needs no car. It also hosts the Ealing Summer Festival, so a summer date is worth checking against the festival calendar first. Ealing is about 7.7 miles from Northwood.

The Thames at Chiswick
Chiswick Mall runs east from St Nicholas Church, a street of mainly Georgian and Victorian houses whose gardens sit across the road on the riverbank. It partly floods at high spring tides, so a riverside portrait there is planned around a tide table as much as the weather. Upriver, Strand-on-the-Green is a conservation area of 18th- and 19th-century listed houses just downriver from Kew Bridge, where the riverside frontage makes a long, even background.
Between the two, Dukes Meadows has a terraced Thames-side promenade with balustrades, viewpoints and a bandstand, opened to the public in 1926. The balustrades give a natural place to lean or sit for a relaxed frame. Chiswick is about 9.9 miles from Northwood, and the travel is quoted in writing before you book.
Hills and views
In the north-west of the area, Northala Fields beside the A40 in Northolt has four conical mounds built partly from the rubble of the original Wembley Stadium, the tallest 22 metres high with views to central London. A portrait on the summit path puts the sitter against open sky, which suits personal-branding images that need space for text. Northolt is about 4.2 miles from Northwood, the nearest part of West London.
Horsenden Hill, between Perivale, Sudbury and Greenford, rises to 85 metres, and its summit is part of an Iron Age hillfort site, with the Grand Union Canal along its south and east sides. Paradise Fields below it adds reed beds, ponds and wildflower meadows with a viewing platform. Between hill, canal and wetland, one session can give three quite different backgrounds.

Brunel and the canal
The Wharncliffe Viaduct, Brunel's first major structural design, carries the Great Western Main Line 20 metres above the Brent Valley between Hanwell and Southall. Nearby, the Hanwell flight of six locks raises the Grand Union Canal by just over 16 metres, with Brunel's Three Bridges at the top towards Norwood Green, where road, canal and railway cross on three levels. Brick, water and ironwork make a strong setting for an individual or creative portrait.
In Southall town centre, the grounds of the timber-framed Elizabethan Manor House have yew trees and an old mulberry said to have been planted by Henry VIII. It is a calm green corner, useful for a portrait of a family elder or a graduate who wants a frame near home, about 6.5 miles from Northwood.
Who it suits
Portrait sittings cover individuals, couples, personal-branding images for founders and freelancers, and milestones such as a graduation or a significant birthday. Each starts with a short talk about the purpose of the pictures, then posing and expression are guided throughout, with time for outfit changes. If the weather turns or you want controlled light, the session can move to the Northwood studio instead.

Holland Park's Kyoto Garden was created for the Japan Festival in London in 1992, and its planting makes a calm, layered background for an individual portrait.
The tallest Northala mound is 22 metres high with views to central London, giving open sky behind the sitter.
The 1891 cast-iron bandstand in Queen's Park makes a strong frame; check whether the park's byelaw on photography for a business applies to your shoot.

Good to know
The gardens at Chiswick House are free to enter and open daily from 7am until dusk, so an early morning portrait is possible. The 300-foot conservatory built by Samuel Ware in 1813 makes a striking backdrop from outside. Check any photography conditions with the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust when you choose the date.
Holland Park is a 54-acre park around the surviving wing of the 17th-century Holland House, with woodland, formal gardens and the Kyoto Garden, so it gives several settings in one walk. Kensington and Chelsea is about 11.3 miles from Northwood, the farthest point of West London for us, and travel is set out in your written quote.
Yes. Founders, coaches and freelancers can combine a headshot with wider frames at their workspace, on a high street they trade on, or by a landmark that fits their brand, such as the Art Deco Hoover Building on Western Avenue in Perivale. Tell us where the images will be used, and the locations are planned from that.
Heathrow lies in Hillingdon, and Hillingdon Council says anyone wanting professional photos taken in its green spaces, even for personal use, needs its permission. Ask the council before fixing a date, or choose a location over the borough boundary, such as a Hounslow or Ealing park.
Yes. A portrait of a parent or grandparent, alone or with family, can be taken in the Manor House grounds in Southall town centre, or at home if walking is difficult. Kaushik guides posing gently and keeps the session at a comfortable pace, with seated frames for anyone who tires easily.
Portrait prices come on request by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383. Travel from Northwood is added to the quote for your location, for example about 6 miles to Perivale or 10 to Queen's Park, and set out in writing before you book.
Hammersmith Bridge, Sir Joseph Bazalgette's suspension bridge of 1887, reopened to pedestrians and cyclists in April 2025, so a portrait on the walkway is possible. Furnivall Gardens on Lower Mall, laid out in 1951 for the Festival of Britain, sits beside the Thames nearby and gives a green alternative.
