A sitting takes about an hour. We walk the ground before anything is switched on, settle on two positions, and open at the easier of them so the first frames are not the ones being judged. Ten minutes in, most people have stopped thinking about the camera, and that is when the work starts.
Proofs reach you inside a week. The frames you pick are retouched to the point a good mirror would forgive and no further, so skin keeps its texture and no feature is reshaped. Files arrive sized for a screen and sized for framing.

What we offer
Sittings across the borough, outdoors by default, with the Northwood studio held back for weather that will not lift.
One hour, two positions, and a walk of the ground before the camera comes out of the bag.
Proofs within the week, and the frames you choose come back at print size as well as screen size.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
Direction is given in small pieces, one instruction at a time, because a list of five adjustments at once is how a sitter ends up looking like a shop mannequin. We light each face to flatter it, adjusting the setup for skin tone, glasses and features so everyone looks their best.
You are welcome to bring a few outfits, and we will help you choose what photographs best under studio light. We are glad to advise on wardrobe, colours and preparation before your session so you arrive ready and relaxed.

Good to know
Yes, and they are one of the most rewarding sessions we offer. An individual portrait is entirely about you, guided with gentle direction so you look relaxed and flattering. Whether it is for a personal-branding profile, a gift or simply for yourself, we make the time count. For outdoor photographs in Kensington and Chelsea we would suggest Holland Park, including the Kyoto Garden.
Yes, we do. For clients in Kensington And Chelsea and beyond, personal-branding sessions are built around how you want to be seen, be that approachable, creative or authoritative. You leave with a varied set of confident images for your website, profiles and professional presence, all under flattering studio lighting.
Yes. We photograph portraits at every age, and families across Kensington And Chelsea trust us with their little ones. We stay patient and gentle with younger sitters, shaping the session around them. Whether it is one child, siblings together or a group, we keep things light so the results feel warm.
Yes, and it is the most common portrait booking we take in Kensington and Chelsea. Two people photograph better standing than sitting, because sitting fixes the height difference between you and standing lets us adjust it. Allow an hour. We meet at a named gate or a doorway rather than a postcode, and if either of you has a side you dislike, say so at the beginning instead of after fifty frames.
That is the default in Kensington and Chelsea, not the exception. We agree the location when you book and send the exact meeting point the evening before, so nobody is circling a square looking for the other. Everything needed travels in with us, including lighting for a dull day. If the weather turns unusable we move the date instead of pushing on, and the new one is settled before we leave.
Serving Kensington and Chelsea
Kensington and Chelsea is well within our travel area. It sits close to Westminster and Hammersmith and Fulham, which we cover too. We cover Kensington and Chelsea and the wider London area for portrait photography, on location or in the studio, with no local travel charge.
One of London's most affluent royal boroughs, known for elegant garden squares, Georgian townhouses and the museums of South Kensington. Served by South Kensington and Sloane Square Underground stations on the District and Circle lines. Sessions on location near Kensington and Chelsea often use Holland Park, with The Natural History Museum on Cromwell Road close at hand.

A garden square is a rectangle of planting with tall terraces standing round all four sides of it, and that enclosure shapes a sitting far more than the planting does. The working effect is that the sun clears the roofline late and drops behind it early, so the hours in which a square is genuinely lit are fewer than the hours of daylight, and they bunch around the middle of the day. That is awkward, because the middle of the day is when an enclosed square is at its worst: light arrives almost straight down through the strip of sky overhead, sets shadow into the eye sockets and under the nose, and turns a rested face into a tired one. There are two ways round it. Grey weather removes the problem outright and is worth booking towards rather than merely tolerating. On a bright day we work at the corners and the openings, where the sky is wider and a sunlit frontage opposite can push light back sideways into the face. The background here is architecture, not foliage: flat fronts, repeated windows, long straight verticals. Clothing carrying a busy pattern of its own competes with that repetition and loses, and a loose jacket gives the eye something to measure against every one of those plumb lines behind it. Plain cloth with some weight in it, cut close, is what survives in front of a Georgian terrace. The same holds at the collar on a head and shoulders frame: a stiff one keeps its shape against straight lines, a soft one folds and reads as untidy rather than relaxed.
