Where recall is not certain the lead simply stays on and comes out in editing afterwards. It is a few minutes of work, nobody can tell it was there, and it beats an hour spent hoping.

- Kensington Gardens dog rules. In Kensington Gardens, a 107-hectare Royal Park shared with Westminster, dogs generally need not be on a lead but are restricted at the edges of the Round Pond and Long Water, around the Italian Gardens fountains and in the Flower Walks. 1
- Borough dog rules. In Kensington and Chelsea's parks dogs must be on leads in the formal gardens and woodland of Holland Park and Avondale Park, and are banned from the Kyoto Garden, Redcliffe Square Gardens and all playgrounds. 2

Yes. We travel out from Northwood to the whole borough and to Notting Hill, Knightsbridge and Earls Court. At the address we need one room with the furniture pushed back to the walls and about half an hour of nobody coming and going. For a dog we would usually do part of it at the address and part outdoors.

A dog in this borough reaches Holland Park already walked. It has come on a lead from home, through streets, and by the time a session starts it has spent the first and best of its attention simply getting there. That single fact reorders everything. A young dog is let off and photographed second, once the arrival has burned away and it will hold a look for longer than a moment. An older dog is photographed first, near the gate, before the walk in and the walk round have added up on it.
