Photographing pets in Camden

We work at the dog's eye level, which means kneeling or lying down for most of the session, and in short bursts with breaks, because a bored dog stops offering anything.

Nervous and older animals are photographed on the lead, close to their person, and the lead is taken out in the edit. We take the first slot of the day where we can, before the ground fills with other dogs. The set is then edited for coat detail rather than brightened flat.

What we offer

Pet photography in Camden

01

Outdoor & Park Sessions

Off-lead where the dog will come back, on-lead where it will not, lead edited out.

02

Working & Gundogs

Sessions timed for quiet ground and short bursts of work, with the breaks a dog needs.

03

Prints & Wall Art

Edited for coat detail, so a black dog reads as fur rather than a silhouette.

Twenty-five years behind the lens

Photographing pets across London

Nervous rescue dogs are given the run of the room before anything is switched on, and the first frames are only taken once the sniffing has finished. We let cats explore the studio at their own pace, and only start photographing once they are curious rather than cautious.

Bring your pet's favourite toy and a pocket of treats, and we will supply plenty of our own too. The natural-light studio on The Broadway in Northwood suits dogs that travel well, and daylight means there are no sudden flashes to startle them.

Pet Photographer in Camden, FAQs

Yes, with the route planned around it. We would stay on the flat ground at the foot of Primrose Hill instead of climbing, keep the session short and build in stops. Bring water, a blanket if lying on cold grass is a problem, and the treats they still care about. If the ground in Camden is wet underfoot, the Northwood studio is the kinder booking.

Very often. A puppy or kitten session captures those fast-changing early weeks before they grow up. For families in Camden, we keep it gentle and playful, working in short bursts and letting the little one explore, so the pictures hold all that early character.

We do. As well as your edited digital gallery, there are fine prints, framed pictures and canvases to choose from, ready to hang in your Camden home. We will happily talk you through the sizes and finishes that will look best on your walls.

Not a problem, but plan the lead. Keep it clipped on for the approach through Camden and anywhere near the roads, then let them run on the open grass once we are clear of traffic. Bring water and something they will chase back to you. First thing in the morning is the better slot, before the crowds build, and a dog that has already run settles faster.

Yes, and we cover Kentish Town, Chalk Farm and Hampstead on the same trip. We travel to you, meeting either at Primrose Hill or at your door in Camden, whichever suits the animal. Cats and smaller pets are a home or studio job rather than a park one. The studio at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 is the alternative when the weather rules the outdoors out.

We photograph pet sessions right across London, and Camden (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Islington and Westminster, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.

A vibrant inner north London borough famous for Camden Market and a long-standing live music heritage. Camden Town station on the Northern line, with Chalk Farm a short walk away. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Primrose Hill, close to the well-known The Roundhouse.

Camden is an inner London borough, and for a dog session that single fact sets the terms. There are roads on every approach and, around the market, a density of people and noise that an anxious animal will not simply get used to within an hour. A dog that is settled in a quiet park can be a different creature in a crowd, and if yours is one of those the sensible plan is either the grass at the foot of Primrose Hill early, before the day fills up, or the studio in Northwood, where nothing arrives unannounced. Primrose Hill suits a confident dog for one reason: it is open, so a loose animal stays in sight the whole time and never vanishes into scrub. The trade-off is that open also means unshaded, and a hill has to be climbed. On a warm day a thick-coated dog will pant, and a panting dog photographs as a strained dog, so overcast is the better forecast and the early hours are the better slot. Bring water regardless. For an older animal the gradient is the whole question. Stiff hips and a long climb do not belong together, and the flat ground at the base offers the same sky and the same grass without asking anything of the dog. We would work there, keep the session short, and let the animal set the pace rather than the other way round.
